https://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/nations-league-canada-united-states-first-leg-recap-1.5322137 Canada beat the damned Yankees for the first time in my life (and the first competitive win since 1980), and stand a decent chance of making the CONCACAF Nations League semis. Granted, a couple months ago we got bounced by fricking Haiti from the Gold Cup, so it's still a little early to call us competent, but we're within sight of being a bit competent and that's a new one.
Even I'm not crazy enough to think that we might actually beat someone. Our high-water mark on the world football stage is the time we held France at 0-0 until the 79th minute in our World Cup opener. Sadly it was downhill from there, and we ended up getting bounced in last place, behind noted footballing giants Iraq.
The world will never be 'perfect'....if that is even possible to define. People are varied and not programmed robots. The best that you can get is a society where freedoms and recognition of the unacceptable nature of prejudice is the norm, so that those who don't share those views are silenced by the demands of fitting in with the said society. Utopia is impossible because we are still animals....the desire to fit in is a driving force in pack animals, so the answer is to set high standards of group behaviour. This means that vigilance is needed and unacceptable behaviour is exposed and punished firmly and quickly.....look at any troupe of primates and you see that in action.
As a politician, who I otherwise don’t have a lot of time for, once said: Education, education, education. Children can be educated in emotional intelligence as well as intellectual intelligence. That is what allows people to develop a moral code based on society rather than purely self-interest.
Good. Guilty of being an over zealous drunk who needs to sort his **** out before it lands him in deep trouble.
I feel sorry for him. The illness will kill him one day. I wonder if the lass would have pursued the case if she didn't smell a buck? Doubt it. Justice.
As all the big clubs complain about re-arranged fixtures over the Christmas period we don't need to worry, cos we're ****
I imagine that Pellegrino will be sacked in the next couple of weeks. Leganes currently sit bottom of the table on two points, and their £18M pound loan player has scored none thus far. Looks like some sucker club somewhere is going to lose a shed load of money on him. D'oh.
