I see the BBC are doing most memorable European Cup and CL finals. I hope 2007 is remembered just to balance the books a bit. For me they are as follows: 1967: Celtic 2, Internazionale 1 1969: AC Milan 4, Ajax 1 1973: Ajax 1 Juventus 0 1975; Bayern 2 Leeds 0 1977: Liverpool 3, Borussia MG 1 1989 AC Milan 4 Steaua Bucharest 0 1993 AC Milan 4, Barcelona 0 1997 Borussia Dortmund 3 Juventus 1 2007: AC Milan 2, Liverpool 1 (conveniently this is never talked about) 2009: Barcelona 2 Manchester United 0 (Great game and result) 2011: Barcelona 3, Manchester United 1 (very enjoyable) 2015: Barcelona 3 Juventus 1 2016: Real Madrid 4, Juventus 1 2018: Real Madrid 3, Liverpool 1 (another good final) For me, the AC Milan side of 1989 were the most sublime and brilliant team of all. 8 Italians and the three Dutchmen.
Interesting watching the Dortmund game on BT Sport Crowd noises being played into the stadium, but with the added element that someone's job is to control the noises so they react to everything that's happening, including the crowd booing/whistling when there's a dodgy tackle from the opposition, or a gentle clap when they do well to retain possession at the back
I'm probably in a minority here but I'd like to see Pompey get promoted.* *So they get hammered in the Championship and go straight back down.
Hope things go in City´s favour, or is there one rule for Barcelona and Real Madrid and another for the likes of Manchester City.
I was beginning to like you until your footnote was added. It is not very neighbourly wishing bad things on them. I feel Pompey fans are quite surprised by the outcome, as they were not playing that brilliantly prior to the curtailment. In their final match they were in 4 different positions during the 90 minutes, going down to 8th and then up to 4th before settling for 5th. I think the fans will be pretty chilled whatever the outcome of the play-offs as everything feels somewhat surreal.
Delighted that Rotherham are going back up - I know one of the players, who happened to score for Blackpool in a win at Nottarf Krap two or three season ago. He should`ve been getting married this month, with my son as a groomsman (whatever that is). Wedding off until next June, so the promotion comes as a nice consolation I suppose.
I remember a Pompey fan saying the same to me when we got promoted. Said the Championship would be harder and we’d struggle. Had doubts myself, but didn’t take too many games before I was able to say to him that the Championship seemed a bit of a doddle . Of course we had a hell of a team.
