I've never heard of seeing the Northern Lights this far south before (does that make them the Southern Lights now?). Even after I saw your post last night I forgot to go out and have a look, but there's another chance tonight but maybe not so bright apparently.
That's incredible. I'm gutted I missed it, but I think there is probably too much light pollution in my area anyway
Inspired by pictures of the Northern Lights posted by Tom the night before last, Mrs Game, Dog and I go up the hill at the front of the house at about 10.30 last night. The anticipated excitement was quickly replaced by the realisation that we had been stitched up. The Northern Lights never come this far south and Tom had obviously got some library pictures off Shutterstock and put them up claiming to be in Winchester. And we fell for it. My wife, who is Scottish and has never seen them even when she lived up there is fuming. Anyway, I've taken some shots for anyone who is interested. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did walking through a cornfield in the middle of the night with an irate Scotswoman. Why you probably missed the Northern Lights on Saturday Simon "Tom" King BBC Weather He's at it again. If he thinks I'm going to fall for it two nights in a row, yeah right. "Therefore, for another chance to see the aurora – anywhere in the UK - you might want to keep an eye on things on Sunday night." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cglv53402mko
She's always pleased to go out whatever the time of day. She did say though when we got back, "Although geomagnetic activity was high, I was rather disappointed by Aurora Borealis tonight. Only to be expected being only a severe G3 rather than the extreme G5 we saw in Tom's pictures on Friday night. Woof."
Hi Guys, I am unsure where to post this but I'll give this a try. If the moderators feel it's appropriate to move it then I'm fine with that. Unfortunately, it seems that I have had a brain bleed following a couple of falls and nasty cracks on the head so being on the forum kind of evaporated from my little world for a while. My mental sharpness has returned but my speech is badly affected and I often sound drunk with my words slurred at times. There are good days and not so good days but life is still with me so there's a lot to be thankfull for. Without my allotment I think I would have given up. I followed the relegation from the **** league with a mixture of sadness following all the promise, fun and heartbreak with Ralph and then the ridiculous tenure of the idiot who couldn't manage. I have seen the long unbeaten run and the inevitable mini collapse in the Championship, and now watch what is happening in the play-off's. Hopefully we will have another brilliant year in the Championship and build a slightly more resiliant team for what lies ahead. I see the world has become ever more dangerous and I'm sure there will be many mixed views on the state of things. Anyway, I hope to contribute more and enjoy some fun with those who are still here. All the best to you guys and girls.
I applaud your courage on being so open on an internet forum full of complete strangers and wish you all the best.
