Need confirmation of which side of the Christian faith these people fall under before I can make a valued comment.

 

Some individuals think the word ladybird came from the Catholic phrase "Our Lady.” The practice of reciting this rhyme was thought to have been used as a warning to those, mostly Catholics, who declined to participate in Protestant services, which had become mandatory since the Act of Uniformity (1559 & 1662). This law made it illegal for priests to say Mass and disallowed parishioners to attend. As a result of this Act, Mass began to be held in secret in fields. Those found guilty of violating the Act were subject to imprisonment and fines and priests to execution. Many priests were executed by being burnt alive at the stake or in some cases being hung, drawn and quartered.

Gender roles and terminology can be loaded for people in general but more so for the LGBTQ+ community. A photographer has taken a series of powerful images to deconstruct the binary.

Women aren’t the only ones that have periods. It’s an easy assumption that when we’re talking about menstruation, we’re talking about women. That’s why you’ll so often see protest signs related to the reproductive system at women’s marches, or why you’ll spot Twitter trends asking what it would be like if men had periods. But this kind of chat can be exclusionary. Just as it’s not having a period that makes you a woman, you don’t have to be a woman to menstruate. Transgender men and non-binary people can have periods, too.
