Most of these are not due to opposition players or illness. Rather than just thinking it is bad luck, should the owners be getting some people in to look at how they are conditioned, training routines, medical decisions, state of pitches (pitch often watered in bad weather like it is a compulsory routine)? I have never known anything like this many injuries and think some of this might be avoided. Perhaps they could get some unbiased advice from University?
From the Supporters Committee meeting minutes, on why we'd had so many injuries this season... Ehab Allam advised that recent discussions showed a better overall injury rate than the previous season, however the Club were looking into reasons and ways to rectify. No idea who he discussed it with, but it doesn't look like it was any of our physios.
But they keep targeting players with a dodgy injury record because they’re cheap. It’s like a Tesco value version of the Brentford model, they’re hoping they can get a decent season out of these lads and then sell them on. This is the result of that model. Hopefully they’ll abandon it and go back to picking up the reserves of big clubs. It worked in the past.
Well said. They players we are signing ie Toral, De Wijs, Burke, Stewart, Kingsley and others had hardly played 100s of games before they came. I hate harping on about Bowen, but the lad played through any knock or injury he was hobbling through most games. But he wants it you can tell. Hardly the same can be said about Toral, even with the slightest of knocks he’s not interested at all. I remember a game last season he came off the pitch with a knock, was about to walk on again and just walked down the tunnel. Obviously the major injuries can’t be accounted for, but it’s a lot easier to play with a slight knock when your winning rather than no fancying it if your getting pumped week in week out.
Confirmation from McCann, de Wijs is our for two weeks, Burke three weeks and Toral two weeks, No word on KLP yet.
If toral is injured and I’m thinking there’s some psychological issue with him Then I said it week or so ago he should eased back in playing reserve games Why rush it into the first team with a player with his record of injuries?
2 weeks lol!! Felt his hamstring I believe. Talented player but pointless for us. It was almost nailed on to pan out like it has done. Should have sidellined him and used MH. At least he was pretty much always fit and available. Madness. Yes, agree, should have been eased back in. I guess desperation took over from sense. That's worked out well. Anotger sign of naivety from McCann perhaps.
Professional football clubs have physios and doctors etc. I can't see a scenario where McCann would overrule their advice. Surely he wouldn't even have that power? Then what about the player himself? Does he say I'm fit as a butchers dog, boss, play me? You know when you're injured. I agree with Chazz, there's something wrong here. I think it's something psycological. Remember Appleby?
Hmmm seem to remember ehab making some snide comment about the injuries we had under Sir Steven Bruce. thank god we’ve implemented a new regime under ehabs rule eh.
Never been a fan of blaming injuries as an excuse for form or league position as all clubs get them but this seasons list of long term absence sick notes and walking wounded take the biscuit.
Apparently through McCanns interview he said they went through the whole team talk. Then just before they went back out Toral said he hurt his hamstring. Unbelievable.
Angus MacDonald, along with one or two others, will feature for the U23s tomorrow. None of the other injured players will be available for Stoke.
Fantastic news for Angus, to go through what he has over the last couple of years and to play again is fantastic, I hope we see him play at KC this season even if it's a sub app.
