Good Morning Everyone Goals either side of half time from Roofe and Phillips ensured the Whites finished the season pearched on top of the (second half of the) Championship table. It must also have made their lap of honour at the end a little more bareable. I have three observations / questions around the game. Let's start with: i) Ayling. Arguably our man of the match yesterday. Was it just coincidence that our form started to nosedive as soon as Ayling got injured? Is he more important to the team than we give him credit for? ii) Ekuban. Noel Whelan was talking about the Ghanian before the game saying you either have the ability to finish or you don't. Its instinct. Unfortunately Ekuban does not have it. Does anyone see him having a future at Elland Road next season? iii) Edmondson. What a shame we have not seen more from the lad over the last month or so. An absolute powerhouse for a 16 year old. Our Captain Liam Cooper has announced that he wil not be going to Burma as his wife will be expecting their first child. He joins Forshaw ("a little hip injury" according to Heckingbottom) and Hernandez (unknown) who have given their excuses. I wonder how many others will join this list? I'm guessing Jansson will be next, as he has to prepare for the World Cup shortly! Thoughts? It's interesting to see half the Leeds team having the energy to impregnant their partners, yet their performances on the pitch have been far more lax, lathargic and disinterested. Agree or not? Is it worth bringing Rob Green back to Elland Road on a one year contract? The 38 year old has barely been used for Huddersfield this season, but two years on, is he past his best now? Thoughts?
Yesterday’s game meant nothing and qpr didn’t even try. Ayling as we know is good at bombing foward and we struggled cos diving cheat never covered for him/ Qpr never exploited it yesterday. Yes Ayling is a big player for us but we need better and more hardworking in front of him on that side. Just glad the season is over. Morning btw
Morning all Given half the chance I think a lot of the fans would give the boot to a fair whack of the playing squad. However sadly it's not for us to make the choice it's the powers at the club. Results started to pick up last season after we bought Ayling and let's face it we were gonna sack Monk before we signed Ayling and O'Kane. So probably yeah Ayling might be important to the team performance however it doesn't stop the rest of the team from pulling up their performances. I honestly can't blame the squad for trying to find any excuse for going over to Burma this week. It's a stupid tour that shouldn't be happening. It was a stupid mistake letting Green go for Weildwald and Lonegan. We had a decent keeper last season and we've had to suffer that **** for the last few month however I don't think Green will come back to us.
Morning Wolves, guaranteed, when we signed Weilwald and Lasogga, we did not carry out proper scouting. We would have thought, WOW, two Bundesliga players, they must be awesome - lets sign them...
Morning all I refused to watch it again in my mini protest, but to answer your questions Ell Ayling was playing when we started our descent as he was found too far forward instead of doing his job at the back. Missed him yes but as a defender with a decent brain. Quite a few senior players wont be going as joining up with International squads, so Pontis wont be going but its ideal for some of the fringe players and kids. I've been bigging up Edmondson, Clarke, Dalby for a while now so pleased for the kid. Ekuban will never be a finisher and has had way more chances than he deserves
Green wanted to go, instead of knuckling down and working to get his place back(which IMO he would have got back) he decided he'd rather leave and pick up the money for sitting on his arse. Remember this is the same Green who some fans got on his back early on because he cost us some games. In fairness to him he did improve over the rest of the season.
