Don't like to revel in other peoples misfortunate but glad to see we haven't lost any ground on the Baggies. Seems that nobody is able to get a grip at the moment.
Well that sucks a big one for the Baggies, makes our defeat look not as bad as it seems, still robbed by that useless twat of a ref.
Stoke’s back line would even please Wakey, bloody huge and won everything thrown at them in the air. Batth was man of the match - I remember a few saying they wouldn’t have him at Leeds, he was great tonight.
So if we got players in early we would be top by now. Says it all really. Why 2as Victor bloody orta sat watching us v qpr. He knows what we need so should not be watching us. He recruited this pile of goal shy plonkers. The real problem is we have no men in the team simple as that.
Just my opinion... Sky Sports stated that Orta started looking in October, he thought the Che Adams deal was just waiting for Leeds to give the nod. Che Adams would have been run past Bielsa first. January arrives, we’ve either overlooked the cost or Southampton have had a change of heart so Orta presented a few alternatives to Bielsa (who would have wanted to watch video footage). Bielsa has said Gray or Adams, I don’t want the rest. Orta goes to Radz who in turn has a heart failure when he hears the costs, he rips into Orta about how much was wasted on Nketiah and tells him to find an alternative. We get stuffed against QPR and the desperation shows on Ortas face because there are few alternatives and if he does find one Bielsa will want to watch footage. Orta has been able to just bring in players in the past, now he has Bielsa saying yes/no and Radz crying over the cost
I think the result tonight was our last get out of jail free card. If Florist win their game in hand, and they should beat Reading at home, the gap is pretty much gone. I'm really not looking forward to Nillwall either, they've had some good results since losing to Barnsley. My worry is that both us and West Brom get sucked in and passed by Brentford and Florist. To put another spin on the striker debate, maybe what we need is a top striker coach. Beattie worked wonders when he was with us. The problem is composure, they're getting into scoring positions but then their minds seem to go blank. A natural goalscorer doesn't need to think. I do think another problem with our forwards is that they are one footed, which defenders can manage. I want to see more of them put their laces through it from the edge of the box, we tend to play it wide then it comes back in. Very often the cross is appalling because, again there is a lack of composure. Another problem, which is linked to all of the above, is they seem to need an extra touch which gives defenders a chance to make a challenge or a keeper to set himself. Great players always seem to have time. Sorry, evening everyone.
Southampton have said all along, he's not for sale, probably since October. It's the same as James last season, we are only after loans now buy and pay later, didn't we even try to get James loan fee at season end, that's why it took so long.
Interesting article discussing the growing role of set pieces: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...pieces-premier-league-trend-brief-aberration/
I had forgotten about Beattie's work. You may have something there. Wonder if we use sports psychologists? Seem to work for lots of sportsmen. Wonder if it works against some?
Law 15 states, in part: "If a player, while correctly taking a throw-in, intentionally throws the ball at an opponent in order to play the ball again but neither in a careless nor a reckless manner nor using excessive force, the referee allows play to continue." Thrown with excessive force is violent conduct and likely to result in a send off (red card).
