Was thinking this driving around today, I thought Fulham was the foundation for promotion, 3 points against Luton was nailed on and breathing space. Instead we’re a defeat away from extreme pressure. I actually believe defeat against Blackburn and we’ll crumble.

The break has definitely not worked in our favour, we have the same starting 11 and the difference for us is how off form (compared to before the break) Phillips, Klich and White are. Add to that Bamford is still missing chances and he isn’t holding the ball up up or defending from the front like he was before and it’s a major concern.

Was listening to Lee Bowyer being interviewed, asked what the difference is now and he said having all the injuries back. Dropping 2 points against Luton is like Wigan all over again, it could end up being a disaster

Talksport was on about Bournemouth and Eddy Howe. It was pointed out how great Eddy Howe is at making average players better, how he gets the best out of an average player and how great he has been at lower league level.

They talked about it being strange that when better class players join Bournemouth they fail. They were basically suggesting Howe is no good with players who already have great ability or flair.

Listening to it the first thing that jumped into my head was Bielsa/Leeds if we get promoted. I desperately want us promoted and I’ll worry about it afterwards and if it happens but Bielsa in the PL with Leeds?

Struggling if I'm being honest to come up with a great Orta signing.

My favourite would be Siaz but that's just because he exactly the type of player I love to watch. There is no way however I can make a case for his signing to be judged a success.

This season I think he (Orta) actually did very well on the loans which was his remit.
    Meslier
    White
    Harrison
    Nketiah

All very good aquisitions and it's not Orta's fault that the Nketiah loan didn't last the full season.

Costa came on loan but is really a signing as we have an obligation to make that permanent. Think most would agree his season has been a slow burner and for me he'll be a costly addition we could do without.

It's the blunders though and the very costly ones at that, both financially and on the playing side that stick out. The signing of Casilla in January 2019 has proved to be the worst and Augustin this January is another massive failure on Orta's part. Those 2 mistakes alone might be the reason for us missing out on promotion both last season and this.

In his defence, he's had very little in the way of an actual transfer budget for permanent signings and so it's hard for me to be too critical when even in January any signing still had to be a temp to perm.

Also not many clubs sell players of the quality listed and still maintain a promotion challenge without having the fees generated to re-invest.
    Vieira
    Peacock- Farrell
    Janson
    Roofe
    Clarke

Victor Orta is a marmite man on here and whilst I dislike marmite I'm ok with Orta.

don’t watch Leeds much then ristac<laugh>

seriously though, largely it doesn’t matter who we play, we dominate possession create more chances - whether we win the games is down to ours and our opponents efficiency on the day.

Fulham was a rare exception where we scored 3 goals with an element of luck to them and they didn’t.

We haven’t been at our best in any of the games since the break, but our losing runs or winning runs - the formula of the games is pretty much the same.

his only great signing was bielsa but it pretty much trumps all the others.

individual signings are always hit and miss, it was the Seville model for u23s in yr 1 that bugged me. Big investment in the future at a time where the present was the priority- and it hamstrung future investment.

Pontus, and at the time Saiz were both good.

Bielsa wasn't a bad signing, and that was almost solely down to Orta

Jesus, I haven't heard of Jack Clarke for months. Looks like he still hasn't got a league start for QPR and his sub appearances have dried up too. Selling him for 10mil+ could be the best bit of business we've done in years.

Actually, that raises a good question.

Who will play a Premier League game first?

    A) Bailey Peacock-Farrell
    B) Jack Clarke
    C) Leeds United

We did well to get White. Quit a few clubs were after his signature.

Where it comes to Harrison, I'd say Bielsa's rapport with Pep has more o do with it....
