Good Morning. It's Wednesday 16th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Whites weighing up Cunha bid

Leeds Utd are weighing up their options following reports that Matheus Cunha is surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid, and could be available in January. As reported yesterday, the 23yo has slipped down the pecking order at the Metropolitano Stadium, and is yet to score in 17 appearances this season, though to be fair, most have been as substitute.

He was a target for the Whites, during the Summer of 2020, but Leeds opted for Rodrigo instead. He signed for the Spanish Giants in the Summer of 2021 for £22.6m, but are now understood to be demanding £30.7m (€35m). Manchester Utd were also credited with an interest in the Brazilian International, but have now switched their attention elsewhere.

On what planet does a club expect to sell a flop for £8m more than what they bought him for?

Leeds doing their homework on Guerreiro

Leeds Utd scouts were in attendance last Friday night watching Borussia Monchengladbach beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2. It has been reported that Jesse Marsch is keen to bring a specialist attacking left wing back to Elland Road in January, and has identified Raphaël Guerreiro as a possible target. The 28yo has netted 27 times in 147 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, and over fifty caps for Portugal. He is a constant threat down the left wing, as well as being solid in defence. Guerreiro is out of contract at the end of the season, so any fee payable is likely to be minimal.

Where does this leave Struijk? The 22yo has done a stirling job at left back, earning him top slot in the Leeds Utd ratings this season, with a 'Whoscored' rating of 7.04. Is he ready to displace either Cooper or Koch?

    Sell Rodrigo for 50m

Speaking on his Youtube channel, former keeper, now pundit Ben Foster has insisted that Leeds keep hold of Rodrigo, before insinuating he could get bought for £40-50m. Although clearly deluded, Rodrigo has indeed been in a rich vein of form this season, netting nine times already this season, but at 31, and entering the twilight of his career, his price-tag has all but evaporated.

“Rodrigo for Leeds, my gosh, this boy is on fire. What a season he is having! “They’ve got to hold onto him but again, Leeds seem to be that team where if somebody keeps smashing it, they’ll get bought. It’ll be £40-50 million or whatever it is.”

we were meant be looking at ben foster as our senior keeper before taking robles... i'd heard he would be great in the role but might have been a lucky escape as he's clearly thick as mince. Or is he just from the Elland school of clickbaiting?

If serious, Guerreiro is a talented footballer but very much in the attacking sense. It's what Marsch wants in his full backs to provide width... but it wouldn't appease those who are concerned about space behind the fullbacks. Maybe Jesse is bored with all these 4-3s and want a few 5-4s and 6-5s?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Heard Adam Pope on a podcast talking about his surprise that Rodrigo never made the Spanish squad especially as Rodrigo has scored more goals than any other strikers taken to Qatar. He expects Rodders on a plane if there are any injuries. I know there are a lot of Rodrigo sceptics on here and with good reason, but think where we would be this season without his goals. People forget that he has been playing in various roles since he came here and has never been prolific simply because he is an out to in striker, a half winger, a No10 a 2nd striker etc. He looked like he was going to have a good season when he scored 5 goals in pre season and has already scored 9 league goals from 13 games as well as 4 in the last 3 games. He can be a special player when used correctly. I will also try and defend some of his errors by saying he is a bit too clever for some of our players as he sees a pass that better players would normally run onto but some of our players fail to anticipate so the ball is passed to the opposition and looks sloppy. He is our best player and on a different level at times, which can make him look lazy, not trying or cannot pass a ball. So I prefer to back him and not slag him. I also believe we would get our money back on him and maybe he will leave in the summer and to a Barcelona or other top La Liga outfit, maybe even Italy. His 2 goals against Spurs will have opened A few eyes.

Yes some will think it’s April 1st <laugh>

Morning all. Can't wait to see these ten or fifteen new signings in January. Will it be too late for a European push I wonder. Where's Sniffy when he's needed

Agree with some of that doc. Always looked a player without a position… but now given a run at 9, he’s actually delivered.

Not sure about people not reading his passes… think he just sometimes tries the Hollywood pass too often in inappropriate situations.

it’s possible he also suits the Jesse narrow style that everyone hates.

while people have focused on lack of width up front and in defence… the fact that we are actually scoring goals directly because of the set-up - from really quick transitions through the middle of defences - seems to go unnoticed. 4 in 4 from Jimmy running central channels instead of touchline hugging. Rods second at Spurs… choice of recipients for roca to pick out but he takes the riskiest with rod running direct on goal.

We may sign a couple of U21 to help us win the Premier League 2, sod our relegation battle.

Why would we sell our top goalscorer when we haven't even got a fit No.9?

Newcastle have four No.9's, three of them there before the takeover. A club now being run efficiently since the departure of Ashley.

They have net spend of £200m in two windows. The kind of efficiency we’d all welcome.

That's what's required when you were in as poor a place as Newcastle and Leeds were. Were like a corner shop trying to compete with Tescos and Aldi

Isak been injured since scoring in his first 2 matches but will be back for the next game, just a £60m player plus he is also going to buy at least 2 more players in January

The Kaiser Chief's don't even rate Firpo.

Simon Rix was seeing if he could arrange an exit interview for Firpo with Piers Morgan.
