The next two fixtures for the Swans are two daunting trips to North London to visit Spurs (Feb 28th) and Arsenal (March 2nd). There follows a six-pointer against Norwich (March 5th) which promises to be more like a cup final than a Premier League match. The prospect of getting zero points from the two trips to London is real and my initial reaction was that we would be in the relegation zone by the time Norwich arrived. Having now looked at the other teams fixtures I’m not so sure!! So where will we be by the time the Canaries arrive? Here’s the up and coming fixtures to be played before March 5th: Bournemouth (28pts) 27th Feb: Watford (A) 1st March: Southampton (H) Swans (27pts) 28th Feb: Spurs (A) 2nd March: Arsenal (A) Norwich (24pts) 27th Feb: Leicester (A) 1st March: Chelsea (H) Newcastle (24pts) 28th Feb: Man City (H) (Postponed) 2nd March: Stoke (A) Sunderland (23pts) 27th Feb: West Ham (A) 1st March: Crystal Palace (H) Aston Villa (16pts) 27th Feb: Stoke (A) 1st March: Everton (H)
The matches against Villa (h), Bournemouth (a) & Norwich (h) could very well decide where we will be playing next year. 3 wins - and we should be in the PL 3 defeats - and we should be in the Championship 7 pts is the minimum requirement.
Hard to predict - look at Sunderland beating Man U yesterday. My best guess is 17th, sadly. Just outside the drop zone.
Here's my prediction, with Sunderland making their move out of the relegation zone after some fine recent performances. Bournemouth (29pts) 27th Feb: Watford (A) - 1pt 1st March: Southampton (H) - 0pts Swans (27pts) 28th Feb: Spurs (A) - 0pts 2nd March: Arsenal (A) - 0pts Sunderland (27pts) 27th Feb: West Ham (A) - 1pt 1st March: Crystal Palace (H) - 3pts Norwich (24pts) 27th Feb: Leicester (A) - 0pts 1st March: Chelsea (H) - 0pts Newcastle (24pts) 28th Feb: Man City (H) (Postponed) 2nd March: Stoke (A) - 0pts Aston Villa (17pts) 27th Feb: Stoke (A) - 0pts 1st March: Everton (H) - 1pt
We wont reach safety without the help of other teams imo. It could even go down to the last game of the season before it will be decided and we don't want that not being able to score more than one goal......
Bournemouth (28pts) 27th Feb: Watford (A) 0pts 1st March: Southampton (H) 1pt =29 Swans (27pts) 28th Feb: Spurs (A) 0pts 2nd March: Arsenal (A) 0pts =27 Norwich (24pts) 27th Feb: Leicester (A) 0pts 1st March: Chelsea (H) 1pt =25 Newcastle (24pts) 28th Feb: Man City (H) (Postponed) 2nd March: Stoke (A) 0pts =24 Sunderland (23pts) 27th Feb: West Ham (A) 0pts 1st March: Crystal Palace (H) 3pts =26pts Aston Villa (16pts) 27th Feb: Stoke (A) 0pts 1st March: Everton (H) 0pts =16pts
Bournemouth (28pts) 27th Feb: Watford (A) -0 points 1st March: Southampton (H)-points Swans (27pts) 28th Feb: Spurs (A) -0 points 2nd March: Arsenal (A) -1 point = 28 points Norwich (24pts) 27th Feb: Leicester (A) -0 points 1st March: Chelsea (H) -0 points Newcastle (24pts) 28th Feb: Man City (H) (Postponed) 2nd March: Stoke (A) -0 points Sunderland (23pts) 27th Feb: West Ham (A) -0 points 1st March: Crystal Palace (H) -1 point =24 points Aston Villa (16pts) 27th Feb: Stoke (A) -0 points 1st March: Everton (H) -0 points
Good thread PGFWhite, and it it's why I had predicted the three relagated teams as Villa, Norwich and Sunderland, but I think that Sunderland might well escape, and be replaced by Newcastle. As for our next two games, both Spurs and the Gunners will attack which suits us, there will be no 10 men behind the ball in these games, saying that Spurs have been our bogey team, much like Everton? But I can see us getting 1 point at Arsenal maybe even 3........
I just can't see that. Our best hope is grabbing a point in these games and then beating Villa and Norwich. Those are the important 6 pointers.
Bournemouth (32 pts) 27th Feb: Watford (A) - 1 points 1st March: Southampton (H) - 3points Swans (27 pts) 28th Feb: Spurs (A) - 0 points 2nd March: Arsenal (A) - 0 points Norwich (24 pts) 27th Feb: Leicester (A) - 0 points 1st March: Chelsea (H) - 0 points Newcastle (25 pts) 28th Feb: Man City (H) (Postponed) 2nd March: Stoke (A) - 1 points Sunderland (26pts) 27th Feb: West Ham (A) - 0 points 1st March: Crystal Palace (H) - 3 points Aston Villa (16pts) 27th Feb: Stoke (A) - 0 points 1st March: Everton (H) - 0 points
Regardless of any points picked up v Arsenal and Spurs (best case scenario for me is 1 point), failure to take maximum points against these two will be a disaster.
Still hoping for a win against either Spurs or Gunners seeing we got nothing from the saints . But it's not the end of the world even if we get nothing . If we don't get at least 6 or 7 points from Norwich , Bournemouth and Villa next month though.... It is the end of the world .
I would just like to remind you that we always bounce back after a bad game at the office, the mighty Swans just might surprise you......
No team has won 6 on the bounce in the league this year next team to go for it spurs 1 0 swans after Europe league exploits
