It was always going to be a problem replacing Alex Ferguson Frenchie. A lot of people forget that United also didn't win anything during the 70s and 80s after Sir Matt Busby had gone - they were a sleeping giant lagging behind Liverpool, Nottm Forest and, at times, Everton - but they remained a massive club despite that. They are still one of the richest clubs but they are traditionalists - so, they don't have knee jerk reactions and hire one manager after the other like other clubs. Solksjaer (did I spell that right ?) has an emotional attachment for many fans - a desparate link to the past - which is failing badly. For them watching Liverpool and Man. City at the top is a nightmare. and with Ancelotti now at Everton things could get even worse on that score.
They have spent too long worrying about making money off the field across the world marketing wise and lost focus on the playing side. Doubt the motivation is there from players except when they play other big teams.and the coaches apart from Mike Phelan are pretty inexperienced. Can you see OGS or Carrick going into hairdryer Sir Alex Ferguson mode? Having said that Man U are still 5th as it stands so goodness know what that says about everyone else!
What a bizarre situation we have seen today at the Birmingham City ground. Coventry play their home games there due to their owners refusing to come to an agreement with Wasps RFC who own the ground and other facilities in Coventry. Coventry today were the home team and used the home team dressing room, with Brum having to use the away team space. As the result was a draw they will have to replay the tie, but swap dressing rooms. It is a sad situation where the charity and City council that owned the stadium in Coventry were forced to try and raise funds by selling to Wasps, but that was after the hedge fund that owned the club refused to match the offer. This hedge fund is registered in the Cayman Islands and is only interested in earning money for the anonymous investors, but slowly they are driving the club into the dirt. Fans are totally split, with some only going to league away games, and the result was that some refused to go to Brum as the home team, but could go as the away team.
Well they get to go again as there is a replay ! Does seem a shame as Coventry are a well supported club and doing well on the pitch.
Klopp in a strop saying they will field the Under 18s in that replay and he won't be there as it's during the winter break. Surely they can play the same sort of side that he fielded against Everton in the 3rd round ? And well why isn't Klopp going to manage - where will he be ?! Scouting or on his own holiday ? I mean our management team managed to do 2 games in 2 days!
Manchester United have only won the League/Premier league under two out of 20 managers in the last 100 years - Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson. In those two they got brilliant and long standing managers.
If Villa make it to the league cup final will they become distracted.? Or on the other hand give their players more motivation to perform?! EDIT 1-1 now . Rooney just scored against Luton. Always liked him ..
It is reported that Everton have turned down a £85 million bid from Barcelona for Richarlison. Do we have a sell-on clause?
West Ham boss David Moyes says he wants to sign "young, attractive and hungry players" who have a resale value. (Guardian Can we expect a couple of underfed ladyboys blowing bubbles
While Everton say there have not been any bids for Richarlison, one might assume that some testing of the waters has been going on. We did see that when he thought of a move to Everton from Watford was being talked about, he suddenly hit a bad run of form. Maybe he will be unsettled again.
