You probably wont know why but this post is brilliant. The bolded part is gold. Us United fans have been saying it for years. A prime example is Lucas. Propelled to near godlike status during some of his injuries.
Thats where you are mistaken. I was the one telling you all its going to come crashing down spectacularly. One of the many, that is.
And yet we finished 2nd... Or do you mean you showed up in the summer after the season had finished or at the start of the following season?
Nope. Right when you looked like you might finakllky do it. There was zero doubt, it would come down with a bang. And it did, so much so theres been a number of books written, one by some guy named Steve (not Stan).
We were punching above our weight that season with a number of players really on their game. We over performed that season so the fact we "came down with a bang" was not too surprising although it was still desperately disappointing. It would have been the most unlikely winner of the league.
Yeah you looked into your crystal ball and foresaw the future, what are Wednesdays winning lotto numbers?
[ I'm not having a go at Benteke - I've said a number of times that his poor performances are a result of the system than his own wrong doing. But his intelligence and timing of his runs have been poor. Rodgers needs to stop shoe horning him into a style that isn't suited to him. Play to his strengths and we will get more out of him. His performances have been no different to Mario's last season. And this isn't me defending Mario either - it's just another example of how our attack is disjointed and Rodgers is the cause. And I have criticised Firmino - he's not been great but he's not been awful either. He's not started in his best position - again, Rodgers needs to do a lot more to get the best out of the players he has.
Depends on what you want - do you want a a striker who contributes to the game and the build up of play, or do nothing but score a worldie every now and again? I know we all want goals but at what cost to the detriment of the team? We simply cannot play a fast, slick, mobile attacking game with him up top. That's the issue. So play to his strengths which is cross the ball - he's scored twice from two crosses.
I'm cutting the attack some slack because as mentioned, we have two players who best play centrally as wingers and were asked to play deeper (watching the game back, it was more a 451 than 433). Ings and Firmino both asked to sit deeper and defend. As a result, Benteke was isolated. But the defence can get f*cked. Same issues time and time again - Lovren and Skrtel are an embarrassment to this club. The sooner the pair f*ck off, the better. It was such a negative performance from Rodgers who has bottled it now. We play with so much fear.
Sorry Jimmy, but those 3 things are ridiculous. You talk about Rodgers having his favourites and can see no wrong in players like Lallana/Lovren but you do the exact same. You clearly weren't happy with Benteke and are adamant on picking up every small thing in his performance where as you'll defend Balotelli until the cows come home because it allows you to have a dig at Rodgers, who you clearly don't like either. You won't admit when he does something right, instead saying it was all the players (Suarez, Can, Sakho) but are happy to put all the blame on him Rodgers when we play bad (or players that you don't like, such as Lallana, Benteke, Milner). You talk about Benteke's poor performances when he was actually decent in his first game v Stoke, won us the game v Bournemouth and was very good against Arsenal. I didn't see the WHU game and yesterday he wasn't great but then the whole team weren't, still scored a worldie though and had Firmino who is apparently a far superior player been able to control a football he'd have had a tap in at the far post and got us into he game. You then go on to say Firmino has "not been awful" implying he's been to the same standard as Benteke (poor and not awful the same? or are you suggesting he's actually been better than Benteke?!) And the middle bit is a joke. Balotelli had 1 decent game, against Spurs with Sturridge. Benteke has already outscored Mario in a 1/5 of the games and I'd say has probably had half as many touches as Balotelli did in his whole LFC career in 5 matches. Benteke has shown so much more than Balotelli ever did. Yes he may have been played wrong, he may have been better with a partner all season, but to say that Benteke's performances have been no difference to Balotelli's is a load of bollocks and if you think about it you'll know that's true.
Ok mate - if you think Benteke has been good, then that's your opinion. But once again, you only pick up on the 'negatives' of my post without actually reading the context. I think Benteke has been poor BECAUSE he's been isolated and we're not playing to his strengths. Now I could be hyper critical and bang on about Benteke's sitter against Arsenal and his header against United which went wide when he should be burying those. And Mario played well in a number of games including Spurs, United away and crystal palace. But yet you accuse me of bias. I've said Firmino has been poor, along with Benteke. Not sure what you're issue is - ah, you're upset because I've criticised your favourite players. This clubs descent into mid table mediocrity is fast. We've lost 7 games in the last 14 games. Last 14 games. 15 points. 4 wins. 3 draws. 7 losses. 11 goals. 25 conceded. Over last 14 games Rodgers is 1.71 goals conceded per games and 0.86 goals scored. Both are the worst figures of his tenure. Yet you're upset over the adjective I've used for Benteke, even though I have clearly implied that we have bigger issues.
And you're right - I don't like Rodgers. How can I? We lost to Palace 3-1 at home, 6-1 to stoke, 3-0 at home to West Ham, another 3 goals conceded against United. Rodgers record against top 4 is 30 games, 5 wins - 4 of which came in one season, 8 draws, 17 defeats. 32 goals scored, 52 goals conceded. Sorry for not accepting mediocrity. Amazing how you think I'm 'picking' on certain players like Milner, Lallana etc because you don't ever argue differently - you just merely point out that I'm being bias. But anyways, if you think Milner and Lallana are undeserving of criticism, then you deserve mid table.
And one more thing - I do have favourites. My favourites are the players who have the ability to get us into top 4. The players I don't like are the ones who none of the above.
