Lets be honest, Matic wasn't himself last 2 season for us. 2015 he expected pay day perhaps. 2016 he was second to Kante. 2017 he got both at Manu. Pay day and top dog in a club with inferior players. Make sense?
What I find a bit amazing about Matic, is no one spoke about him last year, it was all Kante, Hazard, Luis, Costa, Dave etc. Now we have sold him to Man U, pundits are tripping over themselves to proclaim it as the most amazing coup that United have signed him. He's a decent player but come on.
This. He wasn't all that great for us last year, he didnt gel with Kante in midfield, and obviously Kante, being the best DM in the world, was going to be staying over Matic. Matic is a good player, but nothing spectacular. BUT, the big problem is, he was exactly what United needed to bring balance to their midfield as his skills will complement Pogba's. Like i keep saying, I am not angry that we sold him, I am just incensed that we sold him to United.
Yeah I think he is a decent signing for them but no great loss to us as long as Bakayoko is the player we hope he is. Shame he didn't go abroad but like Cech, I don't think we will force players to if they are surplus to requirement. Matic was one of the main reasons Spurs' midfield over ran us every time we played them last year and no doubt why Conte wanted a more mobile partner for Kante.
