Uk forces legally have to give a warning, which varies dependant upon the theatre of operations. We shoot to incapacitate the assailant - a mildly injured attacker (say shooting in the legs) can still cause untold damage, either with their own firearm or setting off suicide vest/bomb. I'd imagine the US forces will have similar guidance. Paint it any way you wish though, if she hadn't attacked a government building she would be alive today. We all know how gung-ho the federal services in America can be, I'm just surprised the death toll isn't higher. Such a "peaceful" protest has also led to the death of a police officer - it's time America had a serious, grown-up debate about their gun laws.
TBH I have only watched limited news stories on the whole thing Col. I am in no way sticking up for these idiots what they did was wrong and stupid. I also said after listening to a couple on the news, I can confirm that. I just thought the shooting was OTT. However I have only seen that video and I can't say that the officer didn't give her plenty of warning. Just an unnecessary waste of life.
Some of the rioters at the Capitol could face up to 10 years in jail for 'injury of Federal property' after Trump signed an executive order in July aimed at BLM protesters.
I have now seen a story saying Pence was there but I'm not sure if Biden was there... he probably doesn't know either.
Probably a minority view, but imo the smartest thing Biden could do is pardon anyone involved when he takes office, on the condition that anyone involved admits their wrongdoing.
Not my understanding of how a presidential pardon works, but I've not googled it to check so happy to stand corrected.
Trump is running out of time for Pence to do it, also got the feeling Pence is a touch pissed at Trumo right now. Would Biden do it? He shouldn’t
@ELLERS here's something to get your teeth stuck into.....Salmond launching an attack on Sturgeon! Could make the elections in May interesting
Biden shouldn't pardon Trump. He should instead lean on every prosecutor to urge them not to prosecute Trump. Trump would love the limelight and the chance to become a martyr, entrenching further existing divisions. The best way possible to punish Trump would be to starve of him of the oxygen of publicity.
She'll get them postponed, just like Khan in London. She's under pressure from Salmond and Galloway plus the vax in Scotland isn't going well at present...
Our nation needs healing as well SM. It would be hypocritical of me to deny independence to Scotland after I voted for Brexit. I think they should stay because our union is not like the EU one, but if they go, don't use the pound and we treat them as a third country. we cut the money on day one. Let the EU bail them out.
I don't know what their fiscal plans are, but they were a bit fluffy about it at the last attempt. I really wish the SNP would get the other things that have been allowed to deteriorate sorted, instead of spending their time and energy banging on about independance. Once Covid is out of the way (gonna be a while yet) they'll be back banging their drum. I have plenty if friends who are SNP supporters, and a few who are anti. It's difficult, we need more autonomy from Westminster, but breaking the Union is a step too far for me...
