Southampton will be given a TWO HOUR extension by the English FA to get all documents filed on Ghana international @Kamaldeenho10 Sulemana moving from Rennes. As reported moments ago, player has signed. €25m, 4.5 year deal. The paper work on the other deal is still incomplete. Forest got three more deals done in 3 hours, why do we make such a mess of it?
Would be pretty funny, so long as nothing crazy happens and they go bust. Their fans still seem to think they are huge and their strategy of chucking money at has-beens and crap desrerves to fail.
True, but he’s trying really hard to get some bites…even we can’t keep a transfer this quiet, so obviously not happening this window…shame though as another DM would be the icing on the cake today
Has the loan window also closed tonight? I'm surprised we didn't bring in another as it is both low risk and low cost.
So the window closes with us having signed five players for our new manager, including three forwards - one of which is a big target man - and more impetus from midfield, as well as some full back cover that the manager has enjoyed working with previously. Can people at least drop the ‘Sport Republic are cheapskates’ narrative now? They’ve pumped the best part of £150m into the squad in one season’s worth of transfer windows and exceeded our old club record transfer fee. Naive? In some instances. Mistakes? Certainly. Cheap? No. Solak has certainly put his money on the line in his first full season as owner, will be interesting to see what pressure that may now put on Ankersen, Kraft, Semmens and Jones.
Can I be greedy and hope that young DM is coming too… I know it’s not likely given NJ’s comment but hey!
And not just £150m in purchases: £150m in purchases that basically weren't offset by sales at all. We needed a complete refresh of the squad, which was in a dismal place last year. We got it. Whether it comes together fast enough to keep us up remains to be seen, but there's no questioning their commitment. (Also, now that we've spent £150m in a season, can we finally put to rest all of the 'we can't spend because of FFP' stuff from the previous ownership group? It was 'we can't spend because the owner is skint' under Gao, and it was 'we can't spend because the owner wants to maximize her profit' under Kat. FFP was never, ever a significant factor).
