If it's Liverpool n City again as everyone expects it to be then I'd rather Liverpool win it than City win their 3rd in a row.
It's not just the spending of money, although that's some of it, it's also the completely unethical way they're run, their complete taking the piss of FFP rules through dodgy sponsorship deals, dodgy payment of player salaries, their arrogance, their classless fans who sing about Liverpool fans being hospitalised, Joey Barton, their general distortion of salaries and transfer fees through their spending. Yes we splashed the cash when we won the cup, but our spending was not huge enough to distort the transfer market and player salaries, we merely spent... top 6 or 4 salaries with bottom 3 (or worse) infrastructure. Our record transfer fee paid is relatively low, about 9 million for Peter Crouch I think it was. Even at the time, that wasn't huge.
Sorry, I just find it a bit rich that a Pompey fan is talking about club ethics. I think it is unethical to spend more than you'll ever have as income, buy a cup and then leave 100s of small businesses out of pocket and the taxman too (ie us). Just saying
I agree. I am ashamed of Portsmouth's actions in the past. FFP didn't exist in those days so we'll never know if we'd have taken the piss with it like Man £ity... Though nearly every club is reliant on a sugar daddy at all levels. Very few clubs are self-sustaining, though in the PL you're more reliant on TV incomes... It's still a sugar daddy of sorts, just not literally a person. And even with all that TV income, many PL clubs are still in huge levels of debts... Technically that means clubs are paying more than they're earning, so no club is innocent. Probably including yours.
Tell you what, Leicester look quality in the second half. If Morrison, Vardy and Perez can start weighting their passes slightly better they’ll cause some real damage this season
I remember reading at the time the administration wouldn’t pay the promised money because of Pompeys debt .........but if the fans paid it then fair play to them.
