RIP Franz Beckenbauer I know he was German, but he couldn't help that. One of a small group of truly legendary players, the like of whom we'll never see again.
Ian Lavender - Don't tell 'em Pike, has passed on at the age of 77. One of the classic comedies of all time - a rather gentle pace but I'd guess we all look back fondly on this one. RIP Ian.
RIP Steve Wright https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68287707 I was never a great radio listener but back in the day I used to listen to ‘Steve Wright In The Afternoon’ while working at a particular workplace. Think it was in about 1982/1983 from memory. He played a good variety of music and had a couple of good features and lines. Check up from the neck up was a memorable catchphrase if I remember rightly.
Very sad - I was a big fan of 'Steeve Wright in the afternooon', though as the music changed in the eighties, I drifted away from the radio. RIP Steve (and adios to the Gay Caballeros, who were one of his jingles in the early eighties)
I know it’s mentioned in the news thread also, but he deserves to be here…. RIP Alexei Navalny A brave, brave man. Very few have that sort of courage and conviction.
RIP Stan Bowles https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68394453 You just don’t get players called Stan anymore.
My first Charlton game was a League Cup replay, which we lost 0-3 to QPR, and Stan the Man scored, which everyone expected him to.
RIP Joe Kinnear https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68757582 Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but he kept Wimbledon in the Premiership for years when they were ground-sharing with you-know-who.
RIP Derek Underwood A Bromley boy who only ever represented Kent at county level. From an era when cricket was still cricket. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68818400
