RIP David Wilkie, Olympic Gold medalist. I really don’t like it that people are dying who I clearly remember in their prime and who weren’t really that much older than me.
RIP Rob Burrow. Passed away age 41 - tragically young to an awful disease. There can’t be many occasions when someone from outside the family will be as devastated today as Kevin Sinfield. Hats off to them both.
RIP Rob. Motor neurone disease is a dreadful illness. I hope science finds a way to stop it in the years to come. Along with that other terrible affliction Alzheimer's. The suffering and emotional torture these illnesses inflict on their victims and loved ones is beyond imagination. Cures / prevention of these scourges would be some of the greatest gifts we could ever hope for.
RIP All the brave service people of the British, American & Canadian forces, and any other service people of other Nationalities who fought with the Allies to begin the Liberation of Europe on D-Day, 6th June 1944. Those who gave their lives on this day 80 years ago, and in the battles that followed. Also the brave members of the French Resistance and others who gave their lives for the cause of liberation on D-Day and during the ongoing Battle of Normandy. Their sacrifice saved us all. They will always be honoured. As a small mark of respect for their memory I'll not be posting anything of a political nature today. Politics can wait I believe. This is a day to remember and honour our fallen heroes.
Still in shock about this mornings news - such a tragedy and puts things into perspective. Saddened beyond belief.
RIP Matija Sarkic https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cv22z9lgdlxo Only 26 years old. No age at all. Terrible shock for his loved ones.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cqvvyypg33zo Even 54 is no age to go really. Condolences to his friends and family.
