That's a touching post and resonates a lot with me. I was at the Highbury semi final and the Wembley replay, being taken to both by my father. My lad was born in Sheffield but is an 'R' and has yet to visit LR. Hopefully soon I can take him RIP Mr Jackman
Snap, but we made semi final, final and replay, despite me being in Durham at that time. My lad had the great privilege of being born in Worksop. He dallied with the Gooners when a small child, but was an R by the time he was ten. He’s been to Loftus Road a lot, but has rarely seen us win, got him an ST last time we were in the Prem……coming with me to Cov on Saturday. My dad lost interest in going to live football just about as soon as I wasn’t around to go with him, and my younger brothers weren’t interested, he returned to rugby and cricket.
Worcestershire spin bowler Josh Baker has died aged 20, the club have announced. Baker made 47 appearances across all formats for Worcestershire since turning professional in 2021, the last being against Durham in the County Championship just last month. The Pears said they were "devastated" by the loss of a young player who has played two Vitality County Championship matches this season. A statement read: "Worcestershire County Cricket Club is heartbroken to announce the untimely passing of Josh Baker, who was aged only 20 years old. RIP
RIP Richard, another one gone from my childhood. Was responsible for writing or co-writing some of their biggest hits ! Sad times
Actor Bernard Hill, best known for roles in Titanic and Lord of the Rings, has died aged 79. He played Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 Oscar-winning film and won 11 Academy Awards throughout his acting career. Some of those awards came for his performances as King Théoden in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Hill also featured played the character of Yosser Hughes in the iconic drama series Boys from the Blackstuff. RIP
