Noticed that but not got a bike I did spend a bit of time in the garden today; mowed lawn, painted shed and put clothes line back up (had to take it down when replacing fence panels because of high winds and the ****er broke!). Then started looking at ordering a hot tub
I think I'll go out for a proper ride this evening it was that pleasant. Will do some maintenance on the bike first since I haven't ridden it for months I just cleared out a bit in the garage and tidied it up, fairly satisfying. Maybe I can fit a hot tub in there too, experience the end of civilisation in style
During my clearing out I went through my trekking backpack and what did I find in one of the pockets ... a nearly full bottle of hand sanitiser Looks like I'll be getting that hot tub after all
Had possibly the strangest encounter yet of the current ****ery. Local butchers sells spuds, I buy a full 25kg bag for the horde. Walking home with them on my shoulder and I only start to get harranged by a little old lady about hording. I've got a weight of spuds on my back and this arle one is waiving her finger at me, while I try to explain that I've hot 4 kids and 5 pounds of spuds lasts 1 meal. People stop and ****ing stare. Absolutely bizarre.
Another 28,000 recoveries over the weekend. Total now stands at 156,137. We stayed up waiting for the next delivery slots to be made available on supermarket site and we now have food coming on 17 April. It makes you realise how many things we take for granted.
A lot of the people in her list would have died this year anyway, the virus may have just been the cause of death. Watch the latest figures go through the roof once winter is over. Death figures normally drop in the summer, but this year will be different
"Where's the massive death toll from the killer virus?" By that line, I would guess they don't believe it's a big a deal as being portrayed. Lots still think it's flu and there are lots of conspiracy theories too. Plus there is no separation to say CV was 100% the cause of death. I just thought the numbers were interesting but there is a increase in week 11 that covers the UK deaths so far
I was thinking about something similar ... I looked up some stats and on average 500,000 people die in the UK every year so that's approx 1370 per day. What I was wondering is how many of the deaths that are being reported per day now are deaths that would happen anyway within those parameters, and how many of those would be deaths that are specific and unique to coronavirus, also would some of those deaths of people with pre-existing health problems that are being caused by the virus be happening anyway?
The National death rate from this virus is published daily by the Govt, it’s hardly a secret. Absolute ****wits like that STILL don’t understand what this is all about ffs. It’s truly incredible.
I'm don't deny the potential risk or actual effect of this virus. However, some points; -a number of reports have suggested Italy are inflating their death values, basically blaming Covid-19 for everything (AFAI remeber only something like 12% of reported deaths were definitely attributed to Covid-19) -the significant reduction in pollution could be saving a number of deaths we would usually expect, plus another small contribution from deaths due to traffic accidents -do you think anyone is bothering to differentiate between Covid-19 respiratory deaths and non-Covid-19 respiratory deaths, given that only famous people have access to tests? -we saw the example of the 21 year old girl in the UK reported as the youngest Covid-19 victim with no previous conditions, only for it to be retracted as nothing to do with Covid-19
The article in the Guardian that originally cast doubt on the cause of death of Chloe Middleton has been pulled. So that isn’t a fact. I’ve no idea why Italy would inflate COVID death stats. However I understand why it might suit many to want to see cause of death attributed to any underlying issues and not the actual cause of death. The narrative about the percentage of those dead who might have only lived for X amount of time anyway, has already been floated, and the usual flag bearing, bulldog avatar ‘patriots’ on social media are now happily peddling it as ‘fact’ and downplaying the issue.
Apparently in France and Italy they are only reporting deaths in hospital, not at home or in care homes. They are going to add them soon in France and I bet there is a massive jump in figures. One care home manager was interviewed and said that 50 residents had caught the disease and 30 had died. The deaths in this country are still at the lower level as we are a couple of weeks behind the Italians/Spanish. See what the stats are like in a month and then let's see if there are still muppets about saying "it is only like the flu". Do they seriously believe the government would be building temporary morgues and hospitals if there was not a major wave of illness/deaths about to hit us in the next few weeks!
