I find it goes in cycles, the point of supply and demand, sometimes there's a surplus if labour sometimes there isn't. Goes round and round. Shame really, if you do get a good employee employer relationship work tend to be much more pleasurable. I'm unsure what it's like in the rest of the world, but the distrust of between each level of employment and the constant need to take advantage of each other is rife within the UK.
Brexit was a stupid idea... But isn't the reason for the labour shortage. Countries all over the world are facing labour shortages at the moment. A lot of people permanently left the labour market during the pandemic. People who had all put off retirement retired in droves. Lots of people quit there jobs because they now want to work from home... Lots of people quit crappy low paying jobs wanting a move up. Huge labour turnovers across the entire industrialized world... It's not just Britain. That says, I still think Brexit was a bad idea... You just can't blame it for labour shortages.
TBH there are some clear labour shortage issues diretly related to it but not all of these are. We put a lot of people on free money to stay home and a lot don't want to go back. I'm sure for you its different as you didn't give as much money to peopel to stay home but we did.
BTW lorry drivers shortage are down to a number for factors including tax changes, extremely expensive to get licensed, no tests during covid to get a license, low pay, etc etc etc. I'm sure lots would give it a go if their wages could cover the EU hookers.
Long queues at all the petrol stations near me today. People have heard there might be a shortage so they're going to make damn well sure there is.
its like we said. march 2020 the oldies could starve and wipe their bums with grass for all they cared. September 2021. raid the petrol stations burn it all, like the last days of rome. the panic is tragically hilarious. 3 days from anarchy. just remember that. 3 days and the supply chains stop and we all starve.
At least there's a limit to how much fuel you can get in your car - unlike the bog-roll situation where people were filling in their garages with it.
Just crazy. I needed petrol on Wednesday before even heard of shortages and half the pumps weren’t working.
It's only BP that have reported a potential shortage because they lack delivery drivers but, as usual, the media have scared the **** out the panic buyers
I don't have a electric car or a problem. If I run out, I run out. Means I can't go to work... gutted!
I topped up Monday (payday) but usually lasts me me about a week. So, got the weekend then if I can't get fuel without queueing...**** it, day off!
