Hardly unexpected but it has been confirmed by Saints that Theo will stay on the South Coast for 2 more seasons.
I'm not convinced he has that much to offer on the pitch now but it is a fee transfer and his wages may well be reasonable. I really hope it works as it would be an amazing story for an academy boy to return and be successful - plus he seems like a genuinely good bloke and consummate professional.
Welcome back Theo! It's a bit of a romantic ending to his career from his point of view and from ours. He is a consummate professional, passionate about Saints and has bags of experience, not to mention he seems like a really nice guy. When on form he still offers a good attacking threat and can cover multiple attacking positions. Given our financial position this makes sense.
Mike Channon returned and was very successful for us. I am chuffed to bits that Theo has come home. All I hope now is that the ****ing moaners just give it a rest.
Pleased with this. The romance of it will end with a Roy of the Rovers ending. You heard it here first.
Looking forward to hearing the fans singing his name at St.Marys once again. It's been a long time since he broke on the scene. THEO, THEO, THEO. Soooo it's not an imaginative song, but hey, this is Saints we are talking about.
Nice that it's been announced on the morning of the first game with a St. Mary's crowd for him. Hope he gets a really warm reception. I'm fine with this, just a squad player on a two-year deal but someone who will have a lot of influence and experience behind the scenes and that's no bad thing.
I'm sure that Theo has a Shane Long at Liverpool moment left in him, i'm satisfied that this is a good deal for the club and him.
I’m pleased for Theo and it will be a good move for us, and not just on the pitch. We all saw after Nathan Tella’s goal on Saturday that the first person he ran to was Theo. Having an elder statesman in the squad is always beneficial to the youngsters coming through, and maybe that’s where Theo’s long-term future lies.
I think it's an emotional choice rather than a football one, that said, the bloke has saints in his blood and his influence cannot be underestimated. I can't wait to get back to SMS to cheer him on though.
Yep, I agree Theo's enthusiasm for Saints will have a positive influence on players especially young Tella who has a very bright future. I am also looking forward to seeing more of Salisu next season, and would like to see more of Jankewitz and see what he can do. For me the standout player this season is KWP who will get even better next season as will Armstrong, Diallo and Adams. The jury is still out on Djenepo, Obafemi, Nlundulu, and a few of the other fringe players but there is still time to impress with a decent pre-season this time around. Just need Ings to sign, a replacement for Bertrand and 3 or 4 more, and we are good to go. All in all I just want to forget about this season and move on.
All I know for sure is that Theo will give absolutely everything he's got when he plays and he certainly seems to be a big influence behind the scenes. I'm happy he's staying.
Well you've all said it really. Absolutely fine with this. Very likeable, and will be positive influence with younger players. Few more goals will be nice!
Hopefully this is an indicator that the board plan to get all our business done ASAP rather than waiting until 11:59:59 on transfer deadline day.
They won’t. So I hope he shuts them up by scoring important goals now and then. That won’t shut them up either though will it? Oh well.
Makes complete sense given our financial state - someone who's still got a bit left to give and who loves the club and will give his all. Crook (dubious) also said there was murmurings of Theo getting a coaching role after the two years? With this news and Tella coming through, I wonder if we'll look to move on one of Redmond/Djenepo to raise some funds for other areas?
