Looks like Scharner on a loan, Graham 50/50 and a full back from South America or the championship. That is probably it for now.No really big signings but some of the dross moved on. Still a lot to do in the Summer
We need better but short term they will get us over the line - I would prefer neither to be honest. However, I am happy to get some cover in and we can wait until the summer to recruit again.
Like m'on I expect another few coming in yet. Minimum of 4. None of the persons mentioned are major signings but will do a job. Expecting MON to give us a surprise yet tho.
After an indifferent first half of the season I believe that MON is only after key positon cover this window and to add a little strength in depth. I agree with Cest that we need a couple of players to get us "over the line" and then look at some serious recruiting in the summer. The January window is rarely a time to recruit real quality at realistic prices. It's a period in which to reinforce the squad to successfully survive the second half of the season, hence the loaning of players rather than permanent transfers.
agreed. I like the way MON is taking it steady. Bring a couple of good players in. Keep the decent ones for the squad and getting rid of the deadwood. Much easier for settling in. Better way to build imo.
Certainly makes a change from Bruce's way of having a new team each season, build slowly and in stages is definitely the way forward.
This Scharner deal is really pissing me off he turned us down once and he did say some distastefull things about us not being good enough. WHY SHOULD WE NOW TOP HIS PENSION UP
Looks Stoke are trying to use Jones to prise Graham from Swansea, now we know why there was such a delay. Moves now in for Stones, we might have to look elsewhere. I am sure MON knows all of this and is two steps ahead of the game.
The problem i have with this Scharner deal is: he has said he does not want to sign permenantly and is only coming for fitness and game time. However, i rate what we already have better than him in both positions and due to the buy-on clause with Mangane, i would prefer he got his chance. Now if Scharner is agreeing to come for game time does that mean he has a clause in the deal he will play x amount of games? If so, it would be a shame as he is preventing better players their chance to prove themselves and if he does not have this said clause would he be better off just staying at hamburg and allowing us to use the wage on someone who actually wants a career at the club? Its a loose/loose for me im afraid!
