Quality vision and passes in there but quite a few of them aren't possible without the movement of other players too, particularly some of the Nunez ones. Takes two to make a pass, much like it takes two to make a cross.
Well yes it's easy to put up a show reel of a player's good plays e.g all the goals they scored while omitting all the ones they missed. This video is simply a compilation of what should have been assists for Salah. It backs up claims that he is our best passer in the final third.
Sorry, probably didn't come across the way I meant it too; I was giving credit to the receivers rather than knocking Mo. Some of the movement is exceptional which obvious helps Salah but he still needed to execute the pass.
The point of the video was to show that (as you pointed out) only one half of the two that is needed to score was working. As someone else said, and we all agree, you can find a YouTube video to show anything you like. You can't, however, perpetuate a claim that a player, Salah in this case, is incapable of exceptional passing when the proof says otherwise. (Not saying anyone here has claimed that btw.)
For those wanting to sell... Is it because you think we will get a good offer, or because you just want him gone? If Aston Villa offered £30mill that's a lot less than £100mill to an Arabian team. But if Villa For £30mil was the biggest offer we got, would you still want to sell?
No. But unless he suddenly finds a second wind then I think he'll find himself on the bench a lot more than he's used to - will he want to stay under those circumstances? Players who aren't quite at the top of their game may not be good enough for a team with title ambitions, but still good enough to be amongst the main men elsewhere.
We have no idea what the new man has in store for him. He must be beside himself with the prospect of coaching Salah (and the other top talent) and Salah may be looking forward to the change to see what that brings for him. It's a very bold man to walk in and bench Salah.
It'll be interesting to see if he thinks he could be his 10. I don't see it myself as it's more of a szoboszlai type player he uses today. I just don't know if salah is up to it in the prem as a winger the way slot currently seems to play.
He's still by far our best player? The one (hanging on by finger tips) player you could say was world class?
I'm amazed by this thread. Salah is our top scorer and our top assist provider. He's much better than diaz (who we could get more money for) better at passing and finishing than nunez. Much better all round game than jota. He's our best forward by a good amount. So we sell him for 100mil (dream) who do you think is replacing him?
I'd say Alisson is it best player and most definitely world class. As far outfield players, you could have been describing VVD. I genuinely don't think Salah is top notch anymore. Still very good, but not world class because he's lost that explosiveness, much like what happened with Torres. Hope he proves me wrong though
I'll ask the question, the ball has been played through salah, nunez, diaz are running onto it, who do you pick. Second question the ball is played into midfield, the player turns and flys at the defence, just needs to pick a pass, salah, nunez ,jota, diaz, actually the whole team, who do you want picking that pass. Salah is the answer. Yes he's not what he was, but much like debruyne even half of him is better than 99% of the league
The difference is age & contract between Salah and the rest. Salah's price is declining, last summer would be the end of his peak value, from now on in his value is dropping. As is his ability with age, the others still have development time. His contract is also up summer 2025, meaning unless we resign him within the next year, he goes for free. Also on his contract, Salah is a huge earner compared to the others. So with advancing age does Salah deserve the large portion of our wage bill and would he be willing to take a big pay cut when the Saudi's would probably offer him double (if not triple) what he's earning now. It's not about 'Who's replacing him?', frankly someone will have to at some point in the near future anyway, it's about is now the right time to sell in order to not lose out in the future.
