Ekbalco/Cityhull thanks for this. Really think Cocktails At Dawn has a great chance, granted a clear round, next week. Is creeping up the market on Oddschecker as well – in a couple of books now only has 2 ahead of him. Nass, it’s a very curious entry I must say. The Imperial Cup and then the ‘boys race’?!? West Wizard has always been thought the world of and certainly off 132 would have an amazing chance at the weekend if those prophecies are ever going to come true. West Wizards claim to fame is, of course, that he finished 2nd in the same novice hurdle 2 years on the bounce (at long, long odds on both times as well)! Going to be very tough for him but he certainly is in the right hands or should I say the right ‘magic hands’!
Don't fancy anything today that much, but just for fun will have a small r/f on two of the 4-year-olds in the Bumper at Carlisle (17:15), namely Speredek & Bollin Ace. Both have a decent chance, but can't separate them, so a wee reverse forecast would be best. Coffers are well topped-up for Cheltenham, I'll no doubt blow the lot next week!
What an idiot Shane Gray has just been at southwell. The connections take a horse to the races and put money down on it in the morning and the jockey cannot even manage to take a hood of correctly (which shouldn't be difficult) , horse runs on well to finish 4th after giving 15 lengths, connections will be kicking his backside hopefully. I am not sure why Godolphin have adopted him actually as he seems quite average even when getting his mount off on terms.
Chelmsford 6:45 - The Blue Dog 5/1 7:15 - Single Lense 7/2 Both of these are taking on short priced favs, more so Single Lense who comes up against an odds on Godolphin horse but just think both could be ever so slightly overpriced.. The Blue Dog has had some decent-ish runs recently just without winning, it's an apprentice race and imo this one has the best jockey on board, Tom Marquand has had a decent winter on the A/W, picking up some good rides/winners for Godolphin too. Single Lense will need to improve a bit on recent runs to beat the Godolphin fav but think he's more than capable of that, having Luke Morris on top can only be a positive.
Horses really do seem to struggle to come from off the pace at Chelmsford, almost a "lay in running" dream track!
