Why are England playing at The Riverside?

I've no idea what that means, but he's hit the post already and looks a threat against these part-timers - and an assist for Che Adams to open the scoring

    Scotland are in our group.
Don't want any of their players getting their confidence up.

I'd be surprised if they get a point out of their three games, it's not an easy group. Certainly wouldn't expect them to get anything out of the England or Croatia games.

Dykes pulled down clean through on goal - red card for defender.

They will be England's fiercest opponents in the group.

I don't doubt that, but they are not in the same league as the England team and if England are patient and professional they'll get the win. If they allow themselves to get sucked in to the hype about the match then they will have a battle on their hands. England better win, else I'll be getting slagged off for weeks <laugh>

From text comment, It sounds like Dykes is maintaining his late season form with us.

He can hit the post as often as he likes, so long as he gets his eye in for the new season.

I hope Grealish is the first name on Southgate’s team sheet for this tournament. It’s a shame he’s a Villa player but he has the capacity to surprise that makes the game exciting.

I’d prefer going into this tournament with the low level of expectation we had for the World Cup.

Yep, Grealish, Foden, Kane, Shaw, the rest anyone’s guess

If they play anything like they have tonight they'll be like the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz - England should have nothing to worry about, the finishing from all the strikers has been woeful - up against 10men for an hour and no goals against Luxembourg.

My expectations have definitely dropped with the injury problems and the alarming drop in form from Rashford and Sterling.
Rashford at least was a little better today and scored a lovely penalty.

A lot of them look knackered and jaded. Plus, Southgate has morphed into a much more cautious coach than he was when he first took on the job, just when we have the players to terrify anyone going forward

He's always been a bit cautious.
I'm hoping he'll surprise us and go for it a bit, as we have attacking players who are the envy of almost every other nation.
I don't expect much from us to be honest.

Another wasted friendly today. What was the point? Apart from confirming that Ward-Prowse should be in the squad.
