Just wondered what everyone's top 3 favourite goals are. They can be for sublime skill, the timing, the moment, what it meant to the club etc.

    Mine would be:

    3. Jose Enrique vs Nottingham Forest - That was the moment it was happening. We would be returning to the Premier League. We may of confirmed it a few games later, but they were third and we were top. The goal was class, and the celebration of all the players. The unity behind they showed and the atomsphere was just amazing!! (Shame he seems to of taken up his position as back up to Simon Mignolet at the Bin Dippers since then.)

    2. Phillepe Albert vs Man Utd - The sheer audacity and the sublime skill to pull of that goals, especially from a centre back. It's very rare that Peter Schmeical was made a fool out of (except by Jon Hendry) but that goal, especially with the commentary, is one of the greatest moments in Premier League history! Plus it really made me believe that we were going to dominate the league that year! Sadly it wasn't to be.....but that goal just captured the Keegan Era to a tee.

1.Alan Shearer vs Everton - THAT VOLLEY!! Shearer will always be my hero, will always be the best striker to grace the Premier League. But that volley vs Everton, around a time when people were claiming he was a spent force, was just phenomenal. The sheer venom and technique......AMAZING!!!

    Honourable mentions:

Laurent Robert x 2 vs Spurs.
    Keiron Dyen vs Everton.
Nolberto Solano vs Everton (outside of the boot brilliance).
Kevin Nolan (all 3 vs the unwashed.)
Ketsbaia vs Bolton (For that celebration)

What are everyone elses top Toon goals?

Shearer v Chelsea in 04? Martins at White Hart Lane in 07? Dyer's back heel against Olympiakos? Shearer's free kick v Man United and his instep into the top corner against Villa? And of course.....Cisse's wonder goal at Stamford Bridge, as well as his screamer against Southampton.. Tiote against Arsenal was a moment to remember, as was Cabaye's free kick against Man United..

How to pick 3 from so many. After careful consideration.

    1. David Kelly against Portsmouth 25th APril 1992. Without it we were in third tier football. Not sure if was relief or not, but will never forget it.

    2. Tiote against Arsenal, for the moment I don't think you could better it.

    3. From my youth, 1976 League Cup SF v Spurs - Geoff Nulty with 3rd goal. I was 15 at the time and I was bitten badly by the Toon that night. The Leazes was really something.

Ps - if anyone thinks Leon Best was underated, see David Kelly.

Geoff Nulty, great call. The Leazes End was absolutely bouncing that night! One of the best nights ever.

Best goal scored was McDonald against Leicester 1974. No goal will beat that. Ever.

Heard that said a few times now, but, don't know if I was there that day.
I was going to about half the games from 74, but after Forest, I wasn't allowed to go to all of them.
Didn't get too Hillsborough for the semi, my sister and her hubby wouldn't take is even though they had a 3rd ticket.
Supermac's second that day is still my favourite goal that I didn't see.

The Leazes was something different wasn't it. You knew you were in a crowd.
Remember the last game before they pulled it down. It took some clearing, have a feeling that might have been against Leicester as well.
    Memories.

I got a ticket for the Burnley side for the semi final. We actually queued up overnight for tickets for the Newcastle end, but around five in the morning, people started lighting fires, fighting etc. and the bloke who took us took the horrors and we had to go home. (I was 14 at the time.) My dad came up trumps with the tickets, loads of black and whites in the Burnley side. McDonald was special that day. It still brings tears to my eyes watching those goals. THAT ball from Terry Hibbitt!

The Leazes End was manic most of the time. There used to be different gangs who used to fight before most games to see who could stand in the middle and start the singing off.

YouTube Forest void game and have a look at the Leazes at the final whistle. Fantastic!

Lucky bugger for the Burnley game. When the goals go in you can see the Toon fans in the Burnley end.
I was watching the Forest game earlier on tonight, flicking through You Tube.

When you look at the Leazes back then it was a different world.
I came across one game from 72', where they had demolished the old east stand and it was just a building site.

Nobody mentioned Acuna's free kick against the Mackems?

Scraped in between the keepers finger nails and the post after Shearer had ran up as if he was going to take it, but ean straight over it and Acuna placed it perfectly.

My favorite has to be Albert's though as Shmeichel could just stand and watch helplessly as it sailed into the net. Often think about that one as I wasn't in my regular seat and was dead in line with Schmeichel when he looked over his shoulder and more or less straight at me.

By the way, I think I'm back, I hope so anyway.
