Barca claim they never joined So much for Perez's talk of legally-binding contracts, eh? Oh well, try again in another dozen years...
I'm not sure that it's faith when you're willing to kill the other person as soon as they disappoint you.
I thought that Barca and Real Madrid were the main ones pushing for this because of the debt they’re in Be surprised if Barca pulled out
Also some interesting points made by Simon Kuper on Twitter - the clubs who have moved early to withdraw are bankrolled by Oligarchs or States. City and Chelsea are far less concerned about profits for the ownership than the likes of us. And the US owners, that’s all they care about.
Yes it’s TalkBalls but this could be coming home to roost. Still waiting for Levy to do the right thing. If he falls on his sword too...then what a few days for the club.
Knowing us we’ll be the last ones to pull out. Levy’s probably thinking if we’re the only ones in it, it guarantees a trophy.
The obvious point here is that it's certainly feasible that he isn't stepping down for honourable reasons, and was instead told by the Glaziers that they wanted his resignation for failing to secure a piece of the solid gold pie that he promised them
Spanish journalists reporting a meeting is currently ongoing with the ESL clubs. Presumably the **** is hitting the fan big time. Good.
In the real football world, it’s currently Grimsby 0 Morecambe 2. Grimsby look set to drop out of the Football League whereas relative new boys Morecambe are making a strong claim for promotion to the 3rd tier for the first time. The Eric Morecambe derby v Luton could be a step nearer again. This is what English football is about - aspiration and despair. Ipswich and Forest winning the league the year after promotion. Champions Burnley and Wolves dropping all the way down the football pyramid and climbing back again. No closed shop; no cartel. No boring league of the same old rich clubs.
