Hello, Norwich fan in peace................. I have been asked to try this out on your board by one of your fans I am running this on the Norwich board among others For a bit of fun, over the course of the next season, I want to run a league along side the real football leagues but with a slight twist. How it works. 1. Each person chooses 1 team (any team) from any of the top 4 leagues in England. 2. Each team can only be nominated once on a first come, first served basis 3. You can not change your team until the end of the season, ready for the next season (if it proves sucessful and/or worthwhile) 4. There are no prizes - it's for fun. 5. Only open to Spurs fans, unless not enough of you join. In which case I will invite Not606 members from other clubs to take part. Only league games scores are counted, not cup games. Points system. As with the current leagues in England it's 3 points for a win 0 points for a defeat 1 point for a draw As their are only 20 teams in the Premier League, for this to work the fun league needs to be restricted to 20 teams and team will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Based on the chosen teams, a fixture list will be created where each team will play each other twice Each time a team plays, their score will be allocated to the team in this fun league (League games only). For example Wigan Ath v Norwich on the first day of the season. Real scoreline on the day is 2-2. Wigan would be credited with 2 goals as would Norwich However, in the fun league Wigan might be playing Wycombe! (if anyone chooses them) And Wycombe (if anyone chooses them) score 3 goals in their first game. The fun league result would then be Wycombe 3-2 Wigan Ath and Wycombe would get the 3 points - Follow? It might get a bit messy around January when the FA Cup overlaps league games but it should not be too much of an issue. If a real game is postponed, those teams next league games will count in the fun league - still follow? Only 38 matches from teams in the Championship, League 1 & League 2 will count. The first weekend of the season in those 3 leagues will not count. (i.e matches played 6th - 11th August) League starts 12th August 2011 I will post fixtures on each Thursday on this forum. Updated results, and the league table will be posted the following Tuesday Hope you will have a go and support this effort. Can I just give my own personal recommendation to this league. It's a really innovative, fun game to be part of, that offers an alternative to run alongside the current prediction league. ThaiCanary and myself will be involved in match previews and reports, so I assure you it will be well run. Feel free to pick any team you can think of in the English leagues, because in the end it's the scoring of goals that count. I would recommend checking out the system set up on the Norwich boards, as an example of how well it works.
Thanks for the PR CS but I think - I would recommend checking out the system set up on the Norwich boards, as an example of how well it works as a bit over the top As from the middle of this week I will be posting all fixtures, rules etc on the Norwich board, along with Swansea, Cardiff, Watford, Millwall, Leeds, Wycombe & Ipswich
Have you succesfully run this before? As teams develop games in hand and lower league teams fit in more games I can see problems developing with "half scores". How are the fixtures drawn up? It seems like it'd have to be quite complicated for it to work.
It is a new concept, and there will be complications, but the two league games the teams play don't have to be on the same day. For example Wigan play Norwich on the Sunday, 2-2 the score. Wycombe don't play until the Monday, but lose 4-3. The score would then be 3-2 to Wycombe. It will simply be the next league game played, no matter if the real team miss a week to fit back in with the restive of the league. ThaiCanary and I are willing to put the time in to make this work.
Thing is, Man Utd regularly clock up 4/5 games in hand over lower opposition at a point in the season*, which I can only see creating a pile up of "half results". Anyway I'm going to stop being negative, if you think it'll work I'm happy to be a guinea pig - May I have Peterborough please? *let alone how many less they'll have than a football league club
Like I say it's something we're trying, and should be something fun and different to the predictions league. ThaiCanary should mark you down as Peterborough as soon as he next reads this.
If the idea is to more score goals than your opposition maybe a good idea not to have spurs as we still have no strikers lol
I think some of you are forgetting Peterborough are in the championship this season. They might not be the same goal scoring machine this season.
Peterborough Utd - Schteffen Freund's Top 10 Greatest Goals (to be known as SFT10GG) Tottenham H - CroatiaHotspur Northampton Town - Ensiluokkainen Have been added, thanks guy
No, this has not been run before and any problems that arise in the first season will be addressed to improve the way it works. It is unlikely that we will have a large number of half games until perhaps the FA Cup 3rd round starts (When the Championship & PL teams join) but I think we can work around that as we have 8 games for Championship, League 1 & League 2 we can 'drop' Fixtures are generated using a MS Excel formula and it works The league tables are also automatically calculated using another formula, it also works Or any tema that is likely to be near the top of their repsective league but it might not work quite like that. Only time will tell. Only if we do not get enough Tottenham fans to make a full league. There are some spaces in other leagues, have a look on the following boards Watford - Div 2, Swansea City - Div 2
