It's 26degrees with 77% humidity not easy for going gung ho.

 

No one’s asking for gung ho, just some effort.

If the team were playing like Perisic we’d be doing far better.

 

I thought we were building as the half went on.

 

If I were Conte I’d make a few changes for the second half.

Lenglet/ Davies for Sanchez.
Lucas/ Spence for Doherty.
Bentancur for Hojbjerg.

 

We look much better with a left footer who can actually play with the ball at LCB, and you can tell Højbjerg and Bentancur have a good relationship. I think Bissouma and Bentancur might be out best partnership quality-wise but based on what I saw of the first half, Biss is going to take a bit of time to get to know his teammates. Had some good dribbles but poorer passing.

 

Lenglet been really bright since coming on, very Vertonghen-esque with his technique and passing.

 

I gave up on a terrible stream in Arabic , we are devoid of any imagination in midfield, nobody going to rip up trees the week before the prem starts , Perisic looking the part though

Romero with an excellent tackle. Been really good all pre-season… unsurprisingly.

 

The lack of a midfielder with guile and creativity has been obvious for a while. I know Conte expects a lot from his wing backs but surely the club will sign a good CM or someone who can create in the middle.

 

It a friendly so who cares but I’d be livid if that wasn’t given as a pen for Kane in a real match.

 

Kane pulled down in the box by Ibanez, Ibanez holds his face though and the ref buys it.

VAR gives a penalty all day long.

I think it’s about the wingbacks but also just moving the ball quickly. I think Bentancur and Højbjerg have a good understanding but Bentancur is a bit more of a two touch player and Højbjerg isn’t a good enough technician to match his workrate. Once Bissouma beds in I think he’ll add the ability to beat his man and find space quickly, and that’ll help get well-drilled sides out of their shape a bit. This game, it’s been a little pedestrian, perhaps because it’s so hot and humid and it’s preseason, but we clearly need a change there.
