please log in to view this image Sunday 3rd October 2pm Premier League Tottenham Hotspur Stadium An eventual comfortable win in Europe has earned us our first win since the international break. That leaves us one more game to try to get another before we hit the next one. A sensible lineup, formation and tactics would be a nice way to approach it. Something tells me that we're still going to see 4-3-3 and a midfield that's not going to please many people. Can Espirito Santo send us into the international injury risk with a win or will our poor form continue? This is Villa's 3rd season in the top-flight since their return from relegation. It's been steady progress for them, narrowly avoiding the drop the first time to a solid mid-table finish the 2nd. They've looked to kick on in this one by spending the money the got from selling Grealish to Man City. Buendia from Norwich, Bailey from Leverkusen and Ings from Southampton used that up. They also brought back Ashley Young from Inter and loaned in Axel Tuanzebe from Man Utd. Their opening day loss to Watford was something of a setback, but they've done well since then. Losses to Chelsea in both the league and the cup aside, they're unbeaten. Home wins against Newcastle and Everton, plus a draw with Brentford lead to their best result yet. A dubious late penalty threatened it, but they survived to win their first game at Old Trafford since 2009. They'll want to build on it with another one at our place, I'm sure. This fixture in the last campaign was one of our worst under Ryan Mason, despite the narrow scoreline. We had a bright start and took the lead via an excellent solo goal from Steven Bergwijn. It wasn't to last long though, as Reguilon sliced a simple clearance past Lloris and into the net. His poor day continued shortly afterward, as another clearance was intercepted and Watkins put Villa ahead. Late chances for Bergwijn and Kane were dealt with by their keeper and the points went to the Midlands: The match at Villa Park only two months earlier came just after our Europa embarrassment in Zagreb. It was a game of few chances and we started a fairly unusual 4-4-2 with Kane and Vinicius up front. Both of them were involved, as Lucas Moura set up his countryman for the opener. Neither keeper was seriously tested until halfway through the second half, when Cash fouled Kane in the box. He dispatched his penalty well, sending Martinez the wrong way and largely killing the contest: Bergwijn and Sessegnon are probably still out, but there's no injury news available as yet. Bailey, Sanson, Davis and Trezeguet are out for the visitors though, apparently. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Ndombele, Hojbjerg, Alli; Moura, Kane, Son. Subs: Gollini, Royal, Rodon, Romero, Davies, Skipp, Lo Celso, Gil, Scarlett. League form: WWWLLL. Villa: Martinez; Mings, Hause, Konsa; Cash, McGinn, Ramsey, Luiz, Targett; Ings, Watkins. Subs: Steer, Young, Bogarde, Nakamba, Chukwuemeka, Buendia, El Ghazi, Traore, Archer. League form: LWDLWW Ref: Chris Kavanagh. VAR: Michael ****ing Oliver. TV: Not televised. How would you like to line up for this one? Would you stick with much of the same lineup from the Mura game, tinker a little or change it completely? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Villa to go with?
Hugo Emerson/ Tanganga, Romero, Rodon, Reguilon Skipp, Hojbjerg Son, Lo Celso, Gil Kane I can live with Lucas starting over either Lo Celso but anything else and Nuno can **** off.
One of my favourite games ever...Great opening 20...awful next 50...and what a fantastic last 20! Was pissing it down on the way home and got stuck on a tube train in a tunnel for 30 minutes but was grinning like a Cheshire Cat all the way home. Went into work the next day and was talking about what a fantastic match it was and the two gooners I worked with at the time asked me (in all seriousness) wouldn't I have preferred a 1 nil win! When I said no cos I will always remember this game they just looked at me blankly like it didn't compute.
So how many times have you won the cup with the big ears? And how many times did you win the title over a hundred years ago?
You decided wumming is the way to go or has Sucky hacked your account? Until money distorted competition we were the FA Cup kings.
He was the weirdest poster on the BBC not606 boards...used to crack me up. I remember him not handling the 125 result too well and us beating Villa to 4th spot in 2010 (think they were in the running until about 3 games out) sent him over the edge
Thinking of wums, who were that weird couple on our board that insisted that we needed to sell Kane all the time, one was a " woman " although I suspected it was only one person who had watched psycho too many times
That's them, I was on the end of some pretty threatening DMs from them at one time after they asked where the new stadium was , I replied it is the big Silver thing on the High road and they took offence
Could be, there was definitely a Arthur/Martha thing going on there, but GHoddle10 (who wound you up quite extensively I recall) claimed to have a husband and wife using the account.
Ghoddle was around and left before Kane’s emergence IIRC. With regards to Alfie talking about the account who were saying to sell Kane, it was definitely DGC, and they wanted Janssen to play more as a result of selling Kane. What an account they were
