it’s not great but unlike many who seem to believe, I don’t believe any selection is altering that fact.
What to make of this absolute shower? Usually in a performance this bad there’s usually one or two who are ‘ok-ish’ but here...I don’t know that you can even say that. Tanguy and Bergwijn are the only ones who look like going direct ever and the execution has been way off even then. If we change shape at half time I hope it’s Vinny for Sanchez and we just go for it. But I don’t think even the biggest kick up the arse would help given how flat and just frankly poor every player on the pitch has been.
I don't even know where to begin. I'm at peace, comforted by the fact that we are hopefully 45mins closer to Jose getting the sack. I will however offer a scathing criticism of Hojbjerg: I admire his heart and passion but sometimes with passion comes poor discipline. His positional and zonal discipline is simply appalling. In his eagerness to get on the ball and drive the team forward - which again: I admire - he is literally all over the place. Pops up on the right flank, on the left flank, in a #10 position, back in defence. All over the place. Just SIT in a central position and do the job you were signed to do! Protect our horrendously poor defense! Part of the reason we are so easy to play through is that 9 times out of 10, Hojbjerg is 20 yards out of position! This isn't the first game I've noticed it, but I've pretty much had enough of it.
What did Dele say on the documentary " smashing it long and defending " sums us up , any time Ndom or PEH get the ball over the half way line they get out numbered , this is painful to watch
I noticed that about him aswell...seems all over the place and you’re spot on, our defenders at the club are piss poor bar one or two and that is not enough to challenge at the top
Starting to think the players have stopped playing for Jose, and what went on at half time on Thursday has caused more problems than we think. We’ll probably never know, but we can’t continue with this.
This performance looks like the sort of one at the end of a managers time. I know Jose is never long term but considering the season got cut short, I thought he would survive 2 years
We should be playing with a striker. We should not be starting Sanchez. We should not be starting Bale. Our attempts on goal recently have been appalling ... they've had 10 (against a "good" defence) whereas we've had 1 ... against a team who are fighting relegation and ain't won at home all season. JM is failing as much as the players are.
I don't think that the players have stopped playing for the manager, as various people are suggesting, just that the team selection's stupid. Sissoko and Davies as wingbacks? No. Three wingers up top and only two in midfield, one of which is an attacking midfielder? No. Why have we suddenly started playing five at the back when we've lost the players to make it work? The whole thing was nonsense on paper and it's turned out to be equally stupid on grass. Needs at least one half-time sub and I'm not sure that's enough, either. Would've been against Liverpool, but he made two and got them both wrong.
They're displaying every hallmark of that... Even the likes of 'dependable' Ben Davies have been slipshod and half-assed tonight. When you cannot even rely on your reliable there's a good chance something is seriously wrong.
