Tanganga as a RB honestly confuses me

When the ubermensch arrived he was adamant at making Tanganga known as the CB who handled Cristiano Ronaldo in preseason, yet where does Tanganga mainly play? At RB, and it has to be asked what the point of that is as he's clearly not a RB by trade and, unlike TJ Eyoma, doesn;t have the athleticism to play there if needs arise

I mean, how long is it before somebody tells the ubermensch how The Grauniad rated Dermi Lusala as one to watch last summer before it's his turn in the meat grinder that is our right flank?

EVERYTHING some feared when JM was appointed would happen is happening.
NOTHING some hoped for when he was appointed has happened.

And the football is UNWATCHABLY BAD.

I love those old 1970s badly acted disaster movies.
The person in charge makes a stupid decision to save time and or money.
Everyone can see what is going to happen but no matter what those in charge are hell bent on proving they know best...then it all goes to **** and they blame everyone else.

This scenario is being played out on the pitch almost every week and only Levy thinks this is gonna turn out well.

There's been some discussion of his height as an issue. He's 6' tall.
The Premier League doesn't have a ton of 6'4" targetmen thriving off crosses and long balls any more. It's not an issue.

Fabio Cannavaro is 5'9", and I don't recall anyone suggesting he play in midfield

I freely acknowledge this is a theory and doesn't necessarily reflect reality, but I do think this actually does work in Levy's favour

the Lunatic Fringe were the ones loudly demanding the ubermensch be hired eighteen months ago, and Levy gave them exactly what they wanted - and when the bosom faces skywards Levy can say that we had the Big Name™ that the shoutiest section of the fanbase demanded and it wasn't the quick fix they imagined, so now they can keep their opinions to himself and he prepares for the next long-term manager

Great, the one thing we can say we have in common with Man Utd is how our fans respond to dropping points by racially abusing our players online...

Just add Bruce to the long list of managers this season that have outthought Jose.

Levy didn’t appoint Mourinho to appease vocal Spurs fans

He genuinely believed (probably still does) that Mourinho is the best manager around. He’s been a long term fanboy of Jose and tried to get him before. This is why the guy hasn’t been sacked yet

Considering how it was being reported last month that we approached Nagelsmann and were told he wasn't going to change clubs mid-season, that makes the ubermensch Levy's second choice at best

    I don’t buy that.

I think Mourinho was the first choice for Levy. The speed he was appointed after Poch being sacked backs that

I do, since there were reports at the time we were looking at Nagelsmann
    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...-as-mauricio-pochettino-replacement-pptwn0fd0

According to the article, the plan was to let Poch go at the end of the 2019-20 season and bring in Nagelsmann then, only for results and performances to plummet so badly we brought forward the first part of the plan - then learned the second part wouldn't be possible so looked for the quick fix, and there was one quick fix available who would have kept the Lunatic Fringe quiet for the short term

I don't care how bad he was today - this is still an outrage and has no place in any civilised society

Surely Levy would have gone down the Tim Sherwood route if that was the case rather than give Jose a long contract.

Also why would he decide to give Poch the elbow at the end of the season but keep him for the season? That would be crazy

Mourinho was at one of the last matches that Pochettino managed. He wasn't an afterthought or a short-term fix.

There's two reasons why he didn't go the Pleat/Sherwood route

1.) Sherwood was brought in to replace a manager who was unpopular with the fanbase so there was little backlash to his being moved up the bench, but there would have been if we took the same approach to replace a manager who was loved by the fanbase and had got us to the CL final six months earlier
2.) It has to be asked who at the club could have shuffled up the bench, as with Poch going that means his backroom staff would have gone, leaving us with a choice of Wayne Burnett, John McDermott, Paul Bracewell or Ryan Mason, and there's no way any of them would have moved up the bench and not seen the stadium burned down

In terms of lining up Nagelsmann to replace Poch at the end of that season, it's pretty simple: giving Poch time to steady the ship, but it's best to have plans in place in case the decline was terminal rather than be caught with our pants down like we were when Hoddle or AVB flamed out which led to Pleat and Sherwood respectively being caretaker for the majority of a season

I know this is getting into hypotheticals, but if Poch managed to steady the ship that season the best case scenario would be signs of shoots of recovery to keep him in the job (although with him being burned out by that point, this is unlikely), but most likely his position was reliant on our CL campaign, and while he probably would've stayed until the new year as we needed a point against Olympiacos to reach the knockout stages barring an upturn in our league form and/or a good cup run he would've been gone once we were knocked out

It’s the throwing players under the bus that gets me about Mourinho. SAF never did that.
It’s something he seems to have done increasingly often in the last few years. He did it at Utd and he’s doing it at Spurs. He did it with Lukaku and Shaw - and both have performed so much better under different managers. There’s little evidence in the past 5 years that he can create that team spirit and togetherness that makes good players successful. Yet in that period he has been managing good players.

A like just reminded me of this, but can we stop Kane taking our ****ing free-kicks?
He's bloody awful at them and would be far better utilised looking for rebounds, distracting defenders and getting in a dangerous position.

And yet the MouAnon conspiracy theorists continue to claim that it's the players who are at fault

Now I'm not saying that our team needs at least two urgent fixes, with a DM and commanding CB clearly needed to give us a stronger spine (or, you know, a spine) but even if we signed those players can anyone honestly believe that it wouldn't be a matter of time before they got thrown under the bus?

And it has to be said his throwing people under the bus goes back before his stint at Nan Utd, what with him throwing Eva Carneiro under the bus at Chelsea, and I'm reasonably sure there were players he was throwing under the bus at Los Ladrones too
