The Wembley curse is NOT killed off I assure you and we face a team against which we have never scored. Harry missed good chances against Bournemouth and I hope that isn't the start of a trend because we need him now. Levy has placed £200,000,000 on him.
We don't exactly play them every year do we? To be honest I won't read too much into the result so long as we put in a performance. Let's get this into perspective: Madrid have won it the last 2 years Madrid have won 27 of their last 29 CL games at home(drew the other 2) Last time Madrid lost at home in the CL was 2012 It's not a doddle turning them over.
They were on about it on the radio too...has Levy said something about Kane being worth the Neymar fee at minimum? Sounds like he has and the trolls have interpreted it to their hearts content.
Yes, the 'loquacious Levy' is known for spouting his mouth off to the Press, isn't he?? I am afraid that we currently face the combined efforts of both the RM-sponsored Marca and our own 'home-grown' sensationalist, Sky4 centric idiots!! Batten down the hatches, lads it's gonna be a bumpy fortnight! And bloody good luck to Brian and all the other Spurs fans in Madrid. You'll need it, I fear!!
Agreed, I'm not suggesting that it is. So far our group has followed a pattern and I'm wondering if it will continue.
Dunno what everyone is worried about. RM are NOT invincible. Providing Brian is our 12th man and the ref is not theirs, I can see us coming away with at least a draw, and possibly a win. It won't be easy, but get stuck in and ruffle a few feathers and the sky is the limit. One thing is for sure, RM are not going to park the bus and that is where we normally have problems.
First, the boys need to watch the first 20 mins of the 2011 encounter. Keep their heads, and don't be drawn into the attempted whirlwind as the game will settle down. Defence-wise, yes we would love to have Dembele and Wanyama in MF but not going to happen today. Whoever is in their place will no doubt have their battle orders made clear by Pochettino. Other than that, Madrid will allow Spurs to play their natural game (which is what matters most IMHO) .
Im not sure which is the best approach for us? Our natural game is on the front foot....going toe to toe might not be wise? Play like we did against Dortmund? Are we good enough to invite them onto us and keep their attack out for us to hit them on the break? If they have an Achilles heel it's surely their defence...so I'm still non the wiser as to how to approach this. I suppose I should have more confidence in our own defence, they have earned it. Madrid rarely fail to score...but meh...lets go for them?
Madrid are not a hostile pressing team like Dortmund, so no need to play as we did them. Defensively, there can be no Ozil-esque trudging back into CM. The moment our attacks break down in the final third, MF are going to have to bomb back into position. As for attack, in our normal game I trust (for their defence as you stated) .
Hopefully we respond in kind, demanding their fans bring passports with details matching their tickets - and have them sing the Catalan anthem before being allowed entry.
Ditto mate, this is exactly what I wanted to see when we qualified. Getting to play the best team in world football is massive, Real should be very excited at their opportunity
Most important thing tonight is to have discipline and be compact see out the first 20 minutes and then you never know.they are not invincible and we will have chances just hope they fall to kane ericksen and son .COYS WE CAN DO THIS
If we can somehow get a draw tonight, I will absolutely bloody delighted. We were written off by everyone in the CL this season, but so far we’ve proven that we can compete, and tonight is as difficult as it gets. Nothing to lose... COYS!
Technically incorrect. What do points make?? But I know what you mean....... and a point from this would be feckin' massive!!
I can't believe that this has caught on! Wake me up before you go-go, who needs Bale when you've got Sissoko?
I think we'll need at least a point out of the 2 Madrid games. I don't want us going into the final 2 games level on points with Dortmund.
