All joking aside, how the f*ck does Dier not make the England squad?! He is way better than most other English centre backs right now. Arguably the best.
At this point I think we can all see Maguire starting for England in the WC and Dier not being in the squad. I loved Southgate's comments on the last squad along the lines of Dier is used to being in a back three which is a specialised position. Except that England often play a back three, and Maguire doesn't at ManU.
If Dier regularly puts in performances as of recent weeks, then he will be selected by default. As a Spurs supporter, I am hoping that Southgate has sufficient dogma/hubris not to select Dier (that means one less Spurs player for me to pray for an injury-free WC2022) .
This season started with the fixture Spurs may have been likeliest to win, followed by the one they may be likeliest to lose.
Man City would have been the likeliest to win as we had a 100% record against them last season. Whereas Southampton only yielded a point.
Extended higlits: Conte Cam: I thought they might put this stuff on SpursPlay this season, but they've just put ads for it, instead.
Sorry mate but the ultimate responsibility for the goal lies with Son who lost the ball twice in the passage of play. Thought that while at the match but only just seen the highlights which confirmed my first impression
You can see Dier have a go at him too. Emerson's lame diving tackle didn't help matters either, albeit made up for it with his second half performance. Son was probably our poorest player in a 4-1 win... is it weird that that feels good to say? For years him and Kane have been almost solely responsible for our goals and wins and now here we are watching two defenders score and Kulu barge his way into the mix letting Kane and Son know it's no longer just their show up front, the Ginger from Sweden's here's to stay.
Son then Emerson then Romero then Hojbjerg. Son gave it away and failed to get it back. Emerson should've cut the cross out and shouldn't have gone to ground. Romero should've headed it either behind or further out. Hojbjerg shouldn't have jumped for it and should've closed down Ward-Prowse.
What did everyone think of Southampton? Bazunu, Ward-Prowse and Lavia all played well and Walker-Peters and Romeu were alright. Everyone else was pretty **** though, in my opinion. Nobody at left-back and some weird subs made it pretty easy after the first 20 minutes. I think that they could be in trouble this season. Might just be teething problems, of course. Hasenhuttl has got his work cut out and he needs some help with some transfers.
I've predicted them for the drop on Sucky's Prem thread. Boring club and largely ****e players, thought they were terrible as well on the weekend and we should've hit them for 6 or 7. A shame as I like a lot of their fans on here (even if they ****ing hate us ) but all in all they're a club that needs to go in my opinion, they bring nothing to the table other than the occasional feeder moment for Liverpool or us or an annual 9-goal defeat. I also have a sneaky feeling that JWP and/ or KWP could be subject of late bids this window from a few sides.
