Must admit that I'm coming round to this opinion too. I just don't understand why we can't get a coach in who can get our players to at least be able to pass to each other. Every other team in the Championship looked better than us in this regard.
I think the term to be used for our style of play is 'Anti-football'. We have defenders who can't defend, midfielders who can't pass and lack any kind of guile and strikers who might make it in League Two. If it wasn't for Alex Smithies we'd be in League One next season...
Lets not get too ahead of ourselves here...Stefan Maierhoferthis is just rumours to keep West London Sport ticking over. We have already got one great big lump and I am sure that is all we need... Until we actually see who he signs, who he gets rid of, and whether there are any FFP considerations to be implimented, lets not get too het up So different from when we went up to the Premiership...then anybody with a pulse a 15million price tag, over 30 years old and a squad player from a team that played in Europe were "on our radar" Now they have just got to have played for Ollie and come on a free...and they are "in our bag". I can sense a bit is going on in the background, getting rid of players. In the last 18 months we have conducted our transfer dealings with a degree of decorum, which has felt much better...and that is another reason why I am not goineg with players we are linked to. I can see us waiting to see if Millwall are promoted... (there have been persistent rumours about us going for Fred Onyedinma)...so come on Fleetwood! As I have been saying for 6 months now, I am sure Smithies will go...we have an heir and a spare (and a spare for our spare too in the young Pole) That will release Ollie some money to buy someone ...please let him use it sensibly. He knows what we need now...we all do. It starts with Hall, Robinson and Cousins being fit. Beyond everything we need a good 15-20 goal striker, and we need a creative midfield and a solid base to work from And we need to essentially have the same team week in week out End of rant
Well said Beth, think you've said what a lot of us have been thinking. Really hope he gets it right. The 15 -20 goalscorer will be the biggest challenge.
Fair enough. As for Mackie, he shouldn't make the first team unless he recovers some form but I can understand having him in and around the club on reduced terms for one year.
Mackie knows what he is signing on for. He has taken a pay cut. He knows he is not first team. He has NEVER shown anything less than 100% commitment...(ie no sulking, no underminding, and he loves the club). If sent on to do a job, he will do it to the best of his (admittedly lessening) ability. Grego-Cox at u21 level is a goal scoring machine. I know that means absolutely nothing against championship teams but he is a prospect that maybe could blossom, lets give him a go...again it is a cheap salary for a year... I cannot see nothing wrong at all with these two "signings" at all. It is the signing of the 1-3 players that are need to lift the team from dire/mediocre to possible contenders ...those are the ones that matter. we will see
