He's been consistently decent despite his age, out performing the younger up and coming "replacements." Is he another Milner, refusing to age, or is he going to hit a cliff soon? His game has never been about pace, which, along with stamina are the main weaknesses of aging, so, he's a good candidate for staying useful for a few years more. He's probably got more years left in him than Salah... Although Salah remains incredibly fit too.
he's already over the hill and down the cliff face. he's slowed up and cannot get about. all thats changed this season is hes not a total crock. thats great but it doesn't change the issue We have 3 young forwards and one kid. then we have two oaps in relative terms on very high wages. If firmino wants to sign a pay as you play/score contract fine but otherwise i'd rather put the 180k a week (or more) to better use with a younger player. 100k max for 1/2 years?
Bobby is brilliant. I hope he gets a two year new contract. He has a great understanding with Salah, magnificent on his day - he's still putting in the occasional motm performance. What a smile and the best song on the Kop. I'm not ready to not keep hearing that.
2 years at half the wages for playing half the time... cos if we are to succeed again he needs to play no more than that. We are already hearing nunez songs. the Torres bounce vanished overnight and replaced by luis suarez.. players come and go mate. the best thing we can do is earn trophies for the fans. not pay over the odds to keep a guy so that we don't have a tranfer fee to pay. (aka making do again)
Only 5 PL players have scored more than him this season. He's ahead of Salah, Jesus, Martinelli, Saka, Neves to name but a few. Is that contribution not enough for you? Doesn't matter how slow you are if you can keep sticking it in the back of the net when you do play.
That's now. That's all great but what about next year when he's on his zimmer frame. Can't think about only the now when talking contracts. We are also 6th and miles off so the same can be said of vvd at the back. We need to always look to thr loner term with these decisions, which I'm sure why @Jimmy Squarefoot think henderson's contract was a total joke.
I put it down to you younger ones and your disposable attitudes. Served me well, throw away and buy a new one
Tricky one with Bobby. Drifts in and out of games now. Would you sign him in the summer for our club as a free option? Probably not. But he’s our top scorer this year so can’t ask him for much more. We all moan about having no squad depth, if we’re also losing Milner Keita ox and firmino that’s 4 squad players gone for no cash. I think it depends on the value, length and squad status he’s been expected. Another couple years on reduce terms when expectation that he’s a squad player, can’t moan too much about it.
You are right. Yes squad depth but no to180k a week. It's really that simple. We have to move on with Diaz and nunez and whoever else but we do need 6 forwards so keeping a guy on say 100k for 2 years is not so bad. I have to say though, it's not personal. It's just what we were taught by Bob paisley. He's got to be considered a squad player now not first choice if we want to progress.
Oh and Milner meh. Alright for 10/20mins Keita no ****ing loss. We lost 2 years ago not sacking up the fail Ox. Ditto. Absolutely no loss at all. No issue keeping a 4th or 5th choice player for 6 places.
That's my view too. I've always admitted that I'm sentimental over some players despite trying my best not to be. I think he still has something to offer this team. As I said earlier, on his day he can be outstanding. He's everything you look for in a player, skillful, humble, professional, tricky, hardworking, dedicated and comes up with the most memorable goals. I think he will be offered a reduced contract and he will take it.
I guess depends what he wants. He may want to go somewhere and be first choice, maybe try a new country. He seems happy here though and despite his lack of English in any video we see, seems a very popular happy guy to have around.
I sincerely doubt he is getting a mane level offer anywhere. I think he will do well to get 100k anywhere. I'm willing to bet he gets along just fine with English but just doesn't want to look stupid so sticks to his native tongue.
We're apparently tracking the Mount situation after his contract talks with Chelsea have been postponed until after the WC.
Can"t see it. Probably his agent just trying to get him a better deal. Don't think he's leaving Chelsea.
I'd agree its highly highly unlikely but mount would suit us down to the ground in terms of what he can do if willing to do it. But he's been pushed too far forward by cheslea and should be a no 8 not a forward. bit of the delle alli's about him imo.
