at any transfer/wage cost ?? Khumalo-esque wagers on making big inroads into an potential overseas audience I and (I suspect) also the club coffers can live with.
It’s looking like it’ll go to the wire with Rodon, 5pm deadline so just over 5 hours to get it done. Ornstein reckons Swansea want £15m (which is now down from the rumoured £18m they were initially asking for) and we’re currently offering £10m. Maybe Levy can get them to meet in the middle around £12.5m-£13m? Hopefully we can get a few out on loan in the meantime though as we’ve now got a huge first team squad and the likes of Cirkin and White - who were initially expected to play a part this season - will probably find it tough to get minutes so them, Austin and one or two others will probably be best having a 6 month/ full season loan. I think Clarke may now be kept for the first half of the season with the hope he can get a few minutes in Europa and against Stoke, especially as Jose has apparently been really impressed with him, learning from Bale/ Son/ Kane for a few months could work in his favour too before finishing the second half of the season somewhere he’s guaranteed starts.
Looks like Swansea are spending the money already, doesn't it? That's a bit odd if things aren't already agreed, as we know they're skint. A member of our board knows it very well, in fact...
Our good friends from Stratford have a lot to do with that, as they put him on £80k right off the bat when they signed him
Hour and twenty to get the deal done, I’d say it’s more unlikely now. Journo’s say he’s ready to do a medical ASAP but nothing seems to indicate a fee is anywhere near being agreed. Bit surprised we haven’t announced any loan departures yet though. Thought that would’ve been top of the agenda over the last week or so.
Not really, given recent developments Tanganga - may get more games if Dier's done his hamstring Clark - reports say he's staying until January, barring a loan too good to turn down Bowden - injured Georgiou and Marsh may get loaned out, but until January as both are in the final year of their contracts
I think there’s a fair few though that we could/ should be considering loans for seeing as chances in the first team this season are likely going to be very limited due to the size of the squad. Cirkin, White, Austin and Whiteman are the more standout obvious ones. I think Whiteman was the contingency third choice had Gazzaniga left but seeing as that hasn’t happened he should now head out. Most of these should be looking at top end League One or Championships sides. Then a bit lower in the ranks with players like Etete and Markanday. I’ve often been impressed whenever I’ve seen Markanday play, not sure U23s football is going to be of great benefit again this season. These two could benefit heading to League Two, possibly mid-table League One.
Swansea have agreed a deal for Ryan Bennett from Wolves which in theory should pave the way for Rodon to join us. Pushing it for time though to say the least. If it goes through I can only imagine a lot has been done already, ie personal terms and somehow a medical and so once the fee potentially gets agreed it’s literally the case of pressing a couple of buttons our end.
Isn't this one of those things where you just have to agree the deal and put in some provisional paperwork? Levy does love to chuck Sky a few views on deadline days, doesn't he?
Not signed early enough to be eligible for Sunday, I think. Same applies to Benrahma for them though, which is good.
Does the deal sheet stuff apply in this domestic window? If so, then I presume that gives us two hours now to complete it. That or the deal is done already and reporters are just a bit behind.
