Kane isn't leaving, wishful thinking on my part maybe but he's going to give us another year. There's too much uncertainty with the pandemic, no real crowds back yet plus he has a young family and most importantly he's loyal to Tottenham.
Manchester United's owners are ready to sanction a £90m bid for Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane, 27, as they attempt to quell the recent fan unrest. (Sun)
Was good before his injury...you know what happens when they return after something like that...never quite the same. I really haven’t got a clue who will replace the man who scores and assists the most for us. Maybe Uncle Joe needs a new painting in his ****ter...just spend the money on that...we will just carry on regressing on the pitch, it’s ok...I’m getting used to it now.
Agree with Spurly RE Jimenez. Good striker but I wouldn’t wanna take the risk of spending something like £40m-£50m on someone who’s had that sort of injury. In terms of replacing Kane when the day comes, I think we have to accept we won’t sign a player anywhere near as good or even remotely like him. Our best bet is hoping those at the top use the funds wisely (ha, good one, DH!) and bring in 2 or 3 players who can hopefully improve multiple areas in the team. For instance Kane is a 30 goal a season striker and based on this season he’s also a double digit assister too, so we’d probably need to try and find a striker capable of hitting 20 goals and an attacking midfielder capable of grabbing 10 goals and multiple assists whilst acting as the team’s playmaker (basically another Eriksen), possibly another wing forward like Son too, albeit keeping Bale for another year on loan (plus beyond?) can at least help for a while. It’s been bad enough trying to replace Vertonghen, Dembele and Eriksen though, the club has massively failed at that so far so I think it’s safe to say replacing Kane is going to be a comedy show.
The obvious point about That Thing Spurs Fans Obsess About is that, in all likelihood, we'd have to completely restructure our team ...and, no, this doesn't compare to when Saltypool sold Coutinho as by the time he left the entire team had been restructured and made him expendable, in case anyone wants to bring up that old chestnut again So the obvious question is how would the team be restructured? For example, if we go for a Bundesliga-style 433 where the wide players score, that means we would either a.) Push an AM up front like Dortmund did with Reus for a season or two, which would likely be Lo Celso b.) Bring in a trequartista who creates more than scores, for example Firmino at Saltypool c.) Bring in somebody rapid so our front three overwhelms opposition defenders, as Dortmund did with Haaland or Monster Energy Dusseldorf with Werner d.) Bring in a finisher so lethal that if the ball comes to them it will go into the net, like Bayern have in Lewandowski e.) Bring in a target man who scores and creates, like Wolfsburg do with Weghorst
He wasn't. He started for us as soon as he was available, then he picked up a foot injury and was out for a bit, but was right back in again when 100%.
The path to getting another Kane will be tortuous for these kids (several loan outs etc) . Assuming they have the other great traits that I saw in Kane in the class of 2012-13 (intelligent play, a true team player etc) .
really? I was pretty sure the front three was alli, eriksen and kane and remember him wanting a move because he didnt get enough game time in the first season (promised more time and the rest is history as he's been banging them in). I didn't follow you guys to much though so guessing i've got it wrong
Yeah he was in and out of the XI but I wouldn’t say he was always benched, did supposedly ask to leave at the end of the season. Thankfully he didn’t!
We bought him quite late in the summer of 2015 (August 28th) and he played 28 league games and 40 in total that season. Missed a bit of the early season with a foot injury and was used as a sub for a while when he came back from it. Maybe it's that part that people remember?
okay i was sad enough to research the son thing. He had 28 games, 13 of which he started. He managed 1107 minutes out of 3420 minutes in the season with a foot injury for 38 days. Maybe it was a bedding in period which poch typically favoured maybe a bench player is definitely the wrong word to use. Squad player with an aim to be a first teamer?
He was the upgrade on Nacer Chadli, who played the same role as the guy coming in off the left to score - the issue being that Chadli didn't actually leave the summer his upgrade arrived, meaning we were juggling minutes for both Son and Chadli in the first half of the season, with Son often being deployed up front in the cups for this reason
