Despite the fact we’ve been close for seemingly an eternity now, a few journalists are saying that Romero could sign tomorrow or within the next 48 hours as Atalanta are close to signing Demiral from Juve. So we’ll see him on deadline day then!
Talking about legends, surely Lloris qualifies? 10 years at the club which is extremely rare these. And I think in time, Verts and Toby will qualify!
So. Harry allegedly has no intention to return to Spurs. He’s upping the anti yeah? Man City are pulling the strings apparently. If I were Levy I’d up the fee to £200m. Take it or leave it.
Same, if I was Levy i'd rinse them for all they had. Not that it will make a difference to what you guys will be able to spend, I doubt. Ive seen plenty of Spurs fans get all wet twixt the nethers at the thought of £150m+ being handed over and I am thinking why? It will make zero difference to your spending power, since I am pretty certain that money will be going into Levy and the boards pockets.
Kane's anger should be directed at himself. I am getting sick of players signing massive contracts, and reaping the benefits of a long term with high wages, yet when the clubs want them to honour the term he signed for. the players throw a wobbler. They want it both ways, the security and high wages that come with a long term contract plus the option to be able to opt out as soon as you want a transfer. The clubs end up getting shafted. All this bullshit about "gentlemans agreements" Why would any business man, let alone one as frugal as Levy, offer you massive wages on the condition that you are tied down for a 6 year period, only to agree that you can piss off at any time you feel like?
I am certain that the fee would be reinvested in the squad. It would have to be. It’s more whether we can attract the calibre of player you need to replace Kane, without CL football. I think it massively increases our spending power but moving for the biggest players is about more than money. Given the current status of the club, Kane is irreplaceable, because the elite players are out of the picture. We’d have to gamble on an Ings or Vlahovic.
I agree, but you wont need to spend huge money on a player like Ings. I cant see Levy giving Nuno £150m to spend on several new players on top of what you have spent this summer already. Still, the only person at fault here is Kane. Like I said, he wants to have his cake AND eat it.
I was 5 when he played for Chelsea (I had to google him). If he was a Chelsea legend I'd probably know of him. But he played for Chelsea for two seasons in the 80's. so nah.
Ings isn’t a gamble because of money, he’s a gamble because of his injury record. Vlahovic would be a gamble on money because he’s had one good season in Serie A and has no PL experience. I do disagree on the money being reinvested though. He’s previously said (IIRC) in meetings with THST that fees from player sales would definitely be reinvested in the squad, and don’t forget it’s Paratici spending the cash, not Nuno.
For what it’s worth, whilst Levy has developed a rep of being a prude, he does reinvest all the money Spurs make. The only money he takes out of the club is a wage (and then dividends but IIRC Spurs shareholders haven’t taken dividends for a few years now). If we make say £160m from Kane’s sale, that money will go straight back into the club, whether it’s for signings and/ or infrastructure.
That was before you had half a billion pound in stadium debt and the previous plan of hosting NFL games etc at the new ground went down the ****ter due to covid. It would be silly of your board not to pay down some debt if they get £150m+ for Kane.
