TuttoSport claim that Juventus are willing to sell us Weston McKennie in order to fund a move for Joakim Maehle Pretty sure nobody is willing to join Juve in January, just in case they find themselves playing in Serie B next season. But thanks for the heads up that Maehle could be available...
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is hoping to sign RB Leipzig and Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol, with Chelsea also interested in the 20-year-old. (Corriere dello Sport, via Express)
After this WC, we're probably getting priced out Not to be confused with how we're likely to miss out on his Monster Energy Dusseldorf teammate Konrad Laimer, who looks like he's going to be Bayern'd
Most of Inter's CBs are out of contract in the next 18 months. That should be our first and most obvious port or call. De Vrij would be the cheapest option but is now the wrong side of 30. I'd like us to reignite our interest in Skriniar and Bastoni though. A double swoop for them would be seriously tasty. Neither of them will have world cup VAT added to their actual value; for the price of one Gvardiol, we can probably land them both. A back line of Romero, Skriniar and Bastoni reads like a thing of beauty.
Ajax are reportedly willing to sell Mohammed Kudus for £40m in January While there's more than a slight whiff of a post-WC cash-in after his brace against South Korea, especially as he's a bit part player in their team, he certainly has looked a handful
In the latest rehash of players we were linked with in January, Nicolo Zaniolo's being linked again, with him reportedly available for £25m Why? Why weren't we linked with James Maddison in January???
2019s bunch could’ve all made most lists so I’m going for: Gio dos Santos - a man once touted as Ronaldinho’s heir at Barca ended up going on loan to Ipswich amongst others after signing for us. Ended up in MLS last I heard. Paulinho - truly thought he was going to be a game changing CM, although I have always maintained that if Poch signed him instead of inheriting the broken version from AVB, we may have seen a near world class midfielder. The expected version of Paulinho alongside Dembele would’ve been a thing of beauty.
Helder Postiga, a player who we remarkably made virtually all of our money back on. The same would apply to Darren Bent, but that was an unnecessary and unwanted signing. Lazy ****.
People had expectations for David Bentley? IIRC the consensus was we didn't need him, as we had Aaron Lennon playing in that same position already
Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani has been linked Interesting that we've been linked with a few CFs who can also operate as a RWF in recent days - and Muani is intriguing, as he's more Firmino-like as a CF Probably cost a packet though, as he joined Eintracht in the summer, is contracted until 2027, and has recently broken into the France side
Juranovic has looked good all tournament but was standout for Croatia yesterday when it really mattered. Fast, attacking RWB with defensive capability. Wouldn't break the bank either I imagine and surely an upgrade on Royal and possibly Doherty. Probably gel with Perisic too.
Had an impressive World Cup that’s for sure. I like Croatian footballers in general, they mix hard work with technique very well, quite a unique bunch of people/ players. There’s talk today we’re gonna meet Porto’s release clause with Sporting too which is around €45m. I still hope we give Spence time and chances though, friendly or not, he was very impressive yesterday and linked with Kulu nicely, not forgetting he impressed in his Forest cameo too. There’s 100% a player in there, for the life of me can’t understand why Emerson or Doherty get in above.
