A more creative solution would have been to double his wages in return for a new five year deal with a £50m release clause. That would have aligned incentives.
Yup that would have been smart and creative. Everyone would have thought 50m was a bargain. I still cannot believe how cheap he is going for even though admittedly he's been terrible this season
So here's a thought about centre backs For the past few years the centre backs we've been linked with all fell into a specific mold: they could play out from the back and pass he ball like they were a midfielder, with Juan Foyth being the obvious example (given we signed him) while the likes of Joachim Andersen and Ben Godfrey were linked and they also fit with that description, all of whom look like Poch had one eye on long-term replacements for Verts and Toby at least two years ago The reason I bring this up is that, if Steptonho wants to sign a new centre back, if you look at the centre backs he's worked with over the years by and large they don't fit that description, instead he tends to work with either centre backs who are good in the air such as Cahill or Lindelof, or sweepers/****ehouses like Terry or Ramos So if he is looking to overhaul our back line, and this may be the case as Toby's waning this season and Verts' contract is ticking down, I'm curious to see if the transfer rumours reflect this or not, although the recent (nonsense) links to Kalidou Koulibaly indicate this may be the case ...so I'm calling it now, we'll be linked with Nikola Milenkovic again, won't we? No, he's on £75k - and the contract offers ranged from a reported £120k a couple of years ago to £150k last summer Oh yeah, it's official
Ithink we only have Jan(?) who can slide tackle and stop a forward. Toby doesn't do that. So,watch out for the Watford runners coming through!
I’d love it if Spurs shocked everyone and got Bruno Fernandes, genuinely think he could make the difference for the rest of the season
Well it's not like we've got anyone with "Fernandes" on the back of their shirt... We missed out on multiple Dembeles, we missed out on multiple Maghomas...better get multiple Fernandeses!
Is this bullshit? please log in to view this image All Things Spurs @AllThingsSpurs0 · 15 Jan Eriksen has agreed personal terms with #Inter and now they are trying to negotiate a deal with #thfc. Bruno Fernandes going to be earning £120,000 a week at Utd and the deal is £43m with £17m in add ons. In today’s mad market that seems quite cheap and I’m surprised Spurs aren’t looking to hijack it
120,00 per week! They used to be paid something near 20 quid a week when I started watching. I think 1 for a draw and 2 for a win.Pity they don't pay us to watch!!!!
So quick question, how did Benfica sign Julian Weigl for just €20m? And, since I'm here... Lobotka Watch
Haaland proving you can buy quality players in January. What a signing he is going to be for Borussia Dortmund
Looks like the Bruno Fernandes move to Utd might be off - Sporting have decided they want 68mil instead of the original 39mil. Talks apparently have stalled. Maybe he doesn't want to go there!
