Gosden revealed that Too Darn Hot was only 80% fit when running in the Dante. He then went on to state that it was stupidity running the colt in the Irish Guineas so soon afterwards. The trainer feels he is happy with the horse for the first time this season and that being the case it is a watershed moment in Too Darn Hot's career. I want to be against Phoenix Of Spain because with Too Darn Hot not firing and Magna Grecia pulling a hamstring in the race, causing him to miss Royal Ascot, the proximity of some lower rated colts in the Irish Guineas throws a bit of a doubt on the race for me. Charlie Hills is by no means a favourite of mine, I especially avoid his short priced runners. Phoenix Of Spain won the Irish Guineas conclusively but I don't really trust implicitly the rise of 8 lbs to an OR of 120. I would rather back Too Darn Hot at 5/2 than Phoenix Of Spain at 7/4 of the pair. I went with an outsider in Shaman at odds of 20/1. I was doing so in the hope of more rain but it hasn't really happened. Shaman was runner up to Persian King in the French 2000 Guineas and I think he might have been the one to cope best with proper soft ground. I am not hopeful now that it's dried out a bit but at 20/1 you didn't need to risk much for an interest in the race.
5:45 Shepard’s Purse Well because it’s very winnable, has the right draw (pat two winners of this came from double figures and has the form in the book. Just hope James Sullivan doesn’t go too quick, he can take a lead in this from Pearl Noir if needed.
Blue Point to win the kings stand again , and Willing to give T D H another chance , the double pays 10/1 Laurens to make all in the QA stakes 7/1

The only Threat against Threat winning is the other 16 horsies in the same race.I'll just get my coat.
Alex Hammond's tips today "I'll definitely be buzzing if Olmedo wins the first day feature, the Queen Anne Stakes. This Group 1 is run over the straight mile and you can guarantee that trainer Jean-Claude Rouget would not be bringing last year's French Guineas winner over unless he felt the colt had a great chance of becoming France's 20th Royal Ascot winner in the past 19 years. He's a 10/1 shot with Sky Bet to get our meeting off to a flyer. Bon chance! Not satisfied with one Group 1 though, we also have the King's Stand Stakes over the flying 5 furlongs. Battaash will be a formidable opponent after his reappearance win in Haydock's Temple Stakes on his first run after a wind operation. We know by now that a horse's second run after a breathing op is the time to start following, so imagine how good he could be here?! His Ascot record needs improving upon, but this could be his year. He's 15/8 favourite with Sky Bet. I've re-named him Banker Battaash. I can't leave the third Group 1 out of the equation for our day one chat as the St. James's Palace Stakes promises to be a crackerjack of a mile contest with the likes of Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Phoenix Of Spain taking on Dante and Irish Guineas runner-up Too Darn Hot and his stablemate King Of Comedy. I'm going with Phoenix Of Spain as he looks to have an exciting season ahead of him after his storming win at the Curragh. He's 6/4 with Sky Bet" Oh dear, that's 2 of mine down
