Name me a better British drama series than Minder Superbly acted (RIP George Cole & Glyn Edwardes ) , brilliant scripts, wonderful imagery of a London of a recent by seemingly far away age before you-know-what.
15/10 for Minder. Love Thy Neighbour Auf Wiedersehen Pet Any 'Carry On' film Only Fools and Horses, all time classic is the 'Chandeliers' episode
Minder is, of course, the greatest TV show of all time. I'm not a great fan of the Ray Daley years, but George Cole is always top drawer. Lovejoy is another classic. The quintessentially English locations are a balm to the soul. The greatest comedies are Only Fools, Porridge, Rising Damp, and The Office. I'm a fan of U.S television and consider The Wire, Sopranos, and Dexter to be the finest offerings from across the pond.
Not a big fan of American humour(such as it is) but I have always like anything with Adam Sandler in it. The American Pie series is an absolute scream, Stiffler is a very funny man.
Excellent choices Ponders. The Office is still a classic to this day. Brent’s Blind Date in the pub with the frump ...his reaction on first seeing her ...” oh for fvcks sake”
I'm currently working my way through the George and Mildred boxset. I can easily binge away a day on Some Mothers, Open All Hours, Reginald Perrin etc. Anything that reinforces my Englishness is always a perfect distraction to how bollocky this current age is.
Last year I visited the Only Fools pop-up exhibition on Southend Pier. They had over fifty original costumes from the shows (Grandad's literally brought a tear to my eye) and many other props, including Trigger's dolphin, Del's Filofax, and Rodney's skateboard from The Unlucky Winner Is... And, as a bonus, they had Arthur's and Terry's outfits from Minder. I was in heaven. View attachment 104737
