1. If we reach Wembley, would Duchatelet attend ? The most toxic and loathed “owner” in our 112 year history. Personally I hope he does...so 30,000 Charlton fans can tell him what they think of him. 2. If we miss out on the Play Offs on goal difference - quite possible looking at how tight the table is - RD selling our best player Ricky Holmes in January for £400,000 is going to look like the biggest and most vile of all the deliberate damage that old bastard has done to this great club.
Throwing the towel in at Peterborough recently might be the killer...losing 4-1 and look how tight the goal difference is now. Whatever way you look at it, Bowyer has got 13 points from his 6 games and we kept “Gobbo” for far too long.
With both teams playing at their best we could beat ANY team likely to get into the play-offs unfortunately Gobbo's 4-2-3-1 cost us any chance of that
The only saving grace is that none of the teams around us are world beaters - didn’t Scunny recently go on a run of 1 win in 15 ? Beat Pompey on Saturday and that’s them out of it. I can see us beating Pompey & Blackburn ...then going to Rochdale needing a win and losing this is Charlton after all...
RD thinking that Sulley Kaikai could adequately replace Ricky Holmes will go down as one of his top 3 acts of spite.
One of a string of players we've signed who appear not to have been scouted. He also thought Polish Pete could replace Yann, so if the takeover does go through Roland will not have changed one iota.
1. No I don't think so. The honour of representing Charlton Athletic would fall to Richard Murray of course. And Chris & Sue Parkes. 2. I too think it was a mistake to sell Holmes, but if he really wanted to leave I don't know how much use he would have been to us this year. His form was poor for a while before we sold him, presumably a sign of his disillusionment.
Duchatelet turning up at Wembley would not happen. Why would he want to attend with his lack of interest?
If we make it to Wembley, and he's still owner and we're about as much knowing as him selling I'm bringing my big "Roland Out Banner."
Getting ahead of ourselves, but the current squad would require a monumental refit if we do get promoted. How many of the current players are truly good enough for Championship football I would say around 5 ...of which 2 are loans. Amos and da Silva - both excellent this season. Kashi - would he be willing to stay if we got promoted ? Konsa [although not as a full back] & Fosu. Thats 5. Then you have a couple of borderlines, including Reeves, F-Caskey and Billy Clarke. I don't see any of Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Ajose or Magennis being good enough in the Championship.
Tempting fate a bit. The point is that some of the players you mention as not being good enough will have to be good enough if Roland doesn't sell, or if the new owners don't spend a lot. Blackburn will be a Championship side next season, so we might get a rough guide on Saturday. Fosu is defo good enough, but seems always to be injured. Aribo has the potential, and should come in for Fosu on Saturday. TBH I've forgotten what Championship football looks like.
We had out first reminder in ages yesterday of what a Championship-sized crowd and a proper atmosphere was like. You are right, a number of fans commented on it. You get used to playing low key matches in front of sparse 5,000 crowds. Fosu was an interesting one yesterday, as soon as he pulled up in running I saw Pearce talk to him and then gesture to Bowyer to bring him off. Yet he stayed on for another 5 min.
Roland is selling by the end of next week, Bexley and Reams said so.. I have decided that I will go on Saturday it is time like, @Royston Vasey and @lardiman have said, to all pull together and try and get Charlton into the Play Offs.
Not sure about Kashi, think he might be a bit overrated. He shows some "pashun" but gives the ball away far too often.
