Spurs have taken enough UEFA ranking pts this season to be able to write off the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons via the 5 yr rolling window.
You understand this more than me RDBD, what does it exactly mean? Which other clubs will we be ranked above, which we weren't before?
At the start of every season, you lose the ranking pts from 4 seasons ago. So if you got X pts then, you have to get at least X pts this season to maintain your ranking. If you don't, then you start to drop down the rankings, and if you drop far enough, you could end up in CL pot 3/4 if you qualify. So for Spurs, the bad UEFA campaigns in the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons can now be written off without dropping in the rankings. Basel will drop below us if we get to the QFs. The Goons are probably out again, Chelsky perhaps too. We could end up in pot 2 next season if we qualify.
How do you get into pot 1, win it? And I dont understand if it is over the last 4 seasons, how come we can write off 15/16?
Pot 1 : CL winner. Winner of top-ranked leagues (PL etc) . Ranked in the top 8 by ranking pts. "And I dont understand if it is over the last 4 seasons, how come we can write off 15/16?" The write off is effective (21 pts this season, 9 + 12 pts for 14/15 + 15/16) . If Spurs get to the QFs then you literally/effectively write off the 13/14 + 14/15 seasons (15 + 9 pts) .
Madrid deciding that the CL is the way to save their season. And prepare for Mousers telling you this year is their year.
One day referees will twig that, if a player is able to turn in their direction and appeal for a penalty while they're still falling to the ground, it's so obviously a dive that the ref should retire in disgrace after the game For example...
Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the ex-Spurs thread: Modric and Berchiche started, while Bale had to make do with coming on from the bench.
Ostersund has average temperatures of -5°C in February. There might be some Arsenal players wearing gloves.
So are Besiktas this year's Arsenal? Had a surprisingly solid group stage (iirc they were the only other team who didn't lose a game), then ruthlessly put in their place by Bayern at first time of asking?
David De Gea highlight package: Oh hang on, it's the Man Utd match from last night, isn't it? Sorry, I think I dozed off.
Nice knocked out 4-2 on aggregate by Lokomotiv Moscow. Is it worth suggesting to Jean Michael Seri that would never happen to Spurs?
