I grew up a massive boxing fan, I remember getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning with my dad to watch fights on TV and listen to them on the radio. Iron Mike was my hero! However since I was introduced to UFC in 2005 I've been hooked. Boxings gone down in my estimations over the last few years and the Froch vs Groves fight is a perfect example. The ref's are far too quick to jump in. The heavyweight division was always my favourite, but look at the state of it now! Lewis has even spoke of a comeback cause it's that poor! The UFC has the greatest all round fighters in the world competing to the death!
boxing for me although i must say that it is corrupt as **** we used to pile up my dads (30 strong) for the big events after clubbing, now you'd be lucky if i paid per veiw, its ****, cockney mafia, nuff said
i really enjoyed that, cheers for posting still of the same opinion though, queensbury rules mma would get knocked out
Boxing hands down no contest. I got into UFC a while back when the likes of chuck liddell Randy Culture Matt Hughes were on top and even went to see it live at the 02. For one reason or another I lost interest. The one thing UFC had going for it was that all the top fighters were working for the same company so the best fighters fought each other with no politics like In boxing with promoters and tv networks i.e Mayweather vs Pacquiou. With the rise of Bellator its muddied the waters abit about the UFC being the best of the best.
That's the argument. If you were to fight in the street tomorow how would you fight? Boxing legend James Toney fought UFC Veteran Randy Couture a few years ago. This was the outcome:- http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cVO_wTKN4Zo http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_g9sJ4bK5Q
hang on got this on my clip board i'd kick a boxers ass
That can't be used an argument. Toney was more cheeseburger than fighter when this happened. Toney was a brilliant middleweight boxer but he loved food so much he ended up at heavyweight. Plus this was faded overweight boxer going into the octogon. Look at Anderson Silvas boxing record. Id love to see someone like Cain Valezquez try his hand in the so called "weak" heavyweight boxing division.
Randy was at the end of his career when this fight happened . Thats besides the point though. Of course a UFC fighter would lose a boxing match with a proffesional boxer. My point is he'd kick his ar@e within 2 mins in a real fight. The boxer would be on his back taking elbows to the head before he had time to decide whether to throw a left or a right!
I dunno mate (cant beleive i was still on here at 4am) Lets take mike tyson in his prime, he would only have to hit him once, they would struggle to get near him
Tyson was an animal, hes often seen ringside at UFC events, id love to see him give it a go. It all boils down to what you like watching. 2 blokes dancing around using fists only, or 2 blokes going to war with no restrictions. Alot of people dont like UFC cause they say its too brutal. You never see fights stopped through cuts.
I used to watch a lot of boxing but nowadays its ufc for me. I think the ufc is the ultimate combat sport. Its just much more exiting
Brock Lesnar went to UFC and won the heavyweight title in only his third fight I think. Diminishes the importance of the spor
This. You cant just specialise in one form of fighting to be a success in UFC, you need to train everything. Anybody fighting a boxer would take his legs away from him at the first bell and keep him on his back, then all his boxing skills are useless. Thats what makes it a much more exciting sport imo.
