May jog along to this. Hull City fans will be able to watch Jon Beale's Under-23 side in action for FREE when they host Colchester United at the KCOM Stadium on Sunday (KO 1pm). Admission to the Professional Development League fixture is FREE for all fans, with entry to the West Stand available via turnstiles 23-26 in the south west corner of the stadium. Academy Manager Beale is hoping to see another decent turnout at the KCOM on Sunday and insists the support from the black and amber faithful at Professional Development League fixtures is always very much appreciated by all in the Club’s youth set-up. “The fans have always been great in terms of getting behind the team whenever we play at the KCOM Stadium, whether it’s straight after a first-team fixture or a standalone game,” he said. “It’s our first game of the new season and it’s great that we get to kick-off at the Stadium in front of what I hope will be another decent crowd showing their support for the lads, which I know is something they – along with everyone at the Academy – appreciate very much. “We’re always very grateful to the fans who turn up to get behind the team and hopefully we will see them – and a few others – at the KCOM on Sunday.”
I'm going to pop down on Monday to watch. Hull City Under-23s host Millwall in the Professional Development League at the Roy West Centre on Monday 27th August - and fans can come and support the Development Squad with tickets available on the night. Kick-off is at 7pm and admission on the gate on the night is just £3 for all fans, whilst Members can gain entry free of charge simply by bringing their cards to the ground. Speaking ahead of his side's first-ever fixture as the East Riding FA's Headquarters, Beale said: "We made the decision to take the Under-23s' home games back into the city of Hull in order to make it more accessible for fans to come down and get behind the lads and I can't thank Adam Lowthorpe and the rest of his staff at the East Riding FA enough for their help and assistance in giving us the opportunity to do so. "Everyone is looking forward to playing our first game at the Roy West Centre against Millwall on Monday night and it would be great see Hull City fans turn up in their numbers to support the lads. "We've had great support at North Ferriby over the years, but hopefully playing our home games back in Hull will see more people come down to get behind the team. "I've always expressed how much the Academy staff and the players appreciate the support shown at Development Squad fixtures and hopefully those fans - along with some new faces - will really get behind what is a young group of lads this season. "Obviously our last result, losing away at Ipswich, was a disappointing one for everyone involved, but the lads have responded well and worked hard in training throughout the week and will continue to do so over the weekend as we finalise our preparations for Monday night's game." The Roy West Centre is located on Inglemire Lane (Postcode: HU6 7TS). Parking will be available at the University of Hull.
HULL CITY UNDER-23S CONTINUE THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE CAMPAIGN WITH A TRIP TO ASHTON GATE TO FACE BRISTOL CITY THIS EVENING (KO 7PM). Jon Beale’s young side will be looking to bounce back from their narrow 2-1 home defeat to Millwall last week. The Tigers currently sit ninth in the Northern section table but victory tonight would see the Development Squad move up to sixth, just four points behind leaders Leeds United in top spot. The Robins, meanwhile, come into the clash on the back of successive wins having beaten Sheffield Wednesday (5-0) and Sheffield United (2-1) after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers in their season opener. Tickets for the game are priced at £3 Adults and £1 Concessions. Fans unable to travel to Ashton Gate will be able to follow all the action via the Academy’s official Twitter account. Last Season Liam Edwards and Tom Powell were on the scoresheet as the Tigers recorded a 2-1 victory in the one and only meeting between the two sides last term. Edwards opened the scoring at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on 19 minutes, collecting the ball on the edge of the box before cutting inside and placed a superb low shot into the bottom corner. Powell doubled the lead shortly after the restart, finishing Elliot Holmes’ cross at near post and, although the visitors pulled a goal back through George Nurse 15 minutes from time, Jon Beale’s side held on for the win. Coach’s Thoughts Jon Beale has called on his Under-23s side to inject the same spirit, determination and quality into tonight’s game at Bristol City as they showed against Millwall last time out, despite that clash ending in defeat. Keane Lewis-Potter’s second half strike wasn’t enough to prevent the Tigers from going down to a 2-1 defeat at the Roy West Centre eight days ago. Despite the result, Beale was pleased with his side’s performance and wants to see more of the same for his young players at Ashton Gate this evening. “We got a positive reaction from the lads against Millwall and, although we lost the game, the performance was very pleasing,” he said. “We’re looking for the same again at Bristol City tonight. We’ve done a lot of good work throughout the week in training and we’ll be looking to top that off with a good end result. “Against Millwall, the lads showed great desire. Our shape out of possession was really good. We worked hard as a team, we were difficult to break down, we pressed them well and we played some good football at times, especially in the second half. Importantly, we created plenty of chances, we just need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal. “I’ll back these boys all the way though because they’re learning every single day and will continue to do throughout the season. They’re a young group, but they’re a committed and talented group as well. “We all want to win games despite there being a bigger picture in our role at the Club. Our job is to provide players that can make the step up to first-team level and we’ve done a decent job of that of late. “However, we still ply our trade in a competitive league and it’s one we want to do well in. Suffering back-to-back defeats has been frustrating for everyone involved but we’ll head to Bristol tonight determined to end that run with a positive performance and result.”
Interesting to see the under 23s playing on Ashton Gate pitch. The rugby union team, union causing more damage than league due to contested scrums, mauls etc and playing all throught the football season unlike league, is now playing there. So there was union on Friday night, Bristol City on Sunday afternoon and under 23s 2 days after that. Must have a good pitch and/or groundsmen if that is going to remain playable all winter. 26,000+ for the rugby which was a televised game, just under 20,000 for the Championship football game. Is Bristol a sporting city? Or is it another city with nothing to do?
