The games are coming thick and fast. League Cup Q/F Lisandro and Maguire at CB please. Shaw LB and keep Dalot at RB just to get his match fitness up. Bruno is suspended and Van De Beek is injured. Sancho isn't back. With one eye on the City game, all of a sudden the depth of our squad becomes apparent. Do we play Eriksen? Do we have any choice? McFred behind? Elanga & Garnacho out wide? Martial yet again up front. Will be interesting to see what Ten Hag goes with. Charlton will start with Darren Bent up front.
Not on any TV ffs! Newcastle v Leicester on Sky, which will be utterly **** and have lots of big blokes rollign around pretending to be injured to kill time.
Interesting team for tonight, should be a good chance to see how the youngsters work together. Line-up confirmed United XI Tom Heaton Diogo Dalot Harry Maguire (c) Lisandro Martinez Tyrell Malacia Fred Kobbie Mainoo Scott McTominay Antony Anthony Elanga Alejandro Garnacho Subs: De Gea, Lindelof, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Eriksen, Iqbal, Pellistri, Rashford.
In complete control but once again the final ball and decision making in the box has been really poor.
Why doesn't Antony ever take the ball down the line? There's fcking acres of space in front of him and he keeps cutting in and passing into a congested midfield.
This pisses me off greatly. ETH main reason for buying Antony was supposed be because we need a player who could "go past people" on the right side, as of yet i don't think i have seen him do this once.
That was dry as fck. Probably the worst, most dire 45 mins we've played against really very weak opposition. Elanga, McTominay, Fred, Antony have all been poor. Charlton have been so easy to play against, we should be ripping them apart. Instead it's just lumbering ****e.
I know he's left footed but Garnacho is right footed and runs down the wing on the left. It's no excuse, especially when you have so much space behind their LB. The problem is opposition players will suss him out if he's this predictable. Let's give ETH the benefit here I suppose.
And looks like Ten Hag thinks the same. Antony, Kobie and Fred hooked. Rashford, Eriksen and Casemiro on. That's embarrassing ffs. Edit: No reflection on Kobie btw. The lad did well for his first game in midfield.
Not being funny but Pellistri's done more in 5 mins than the rest of the attackers in 90. That boy's a baller.
Rashford scores 2 to make it 3-0. Not a great performance tbh. Needed to bring on the big guns in the end.
I still don't understand why left footed players are played on the right and right on the left. That logic pains me! Why not go with players that are comfortable with the both feet if you want a player that can cut back? But that shouldn't be at the expense of running with the ball on the right to go past left backs.
I don't see it as an excuse not to run down the wing though. Plenty do it. As I said earlier Garnacho does it. We should try switching them.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Antony play on the left even at Ajax. He may have in some games at the World Cup but I didn’t see enough of it. He certainly has a great left foot to put in solid crosses. Garnacho is just a beast! I bet he could run with the ball standing upside down with his hands.
He'll develop with time (Garnacho). Just needs someone to coach him when to release the ball. Takes it too far at times, but that's a minor at this stage in his career.
