    I'm sure it is Eamon.
Blue Tits are superb Sparrow Hawk fodder!

Mmm..............a wet, muddy job at times. Mainly monitoring numbers and habitat along with reporting any ****ers trying to steal eggs etc.

Had to happen I suppose. Still it was fun while it lasted.
A Peregrine can reach 200mph in freefall if that helps.

A couple of summers ago, myself and the present Mrs Rangercol were able to stand at the bottom of a small tree and watch a roosting Hobby at dusk, no more than 12 feet above us. Not sure why it didn't move and I've never been that close to a wild bird of prey since without it getting the hell out of there.
Whereabouts are you and what birds of prey can you readily observe?
(This is so much better than arguing about QPR!!).

Barn owl for me. We have a few nesting near Chez Shefford, and **** me they are noisy bleeders especially during the mating season. Factoid, males make the 'Twit' sound and females make the 'Twoo'. They HAVE to have the last world don't they!!!

Actually think the robin still represents us best - traditional, Christmas -card twee, yet fiercely territorial and quite violent.

What happened to sparrows? There used to be millions when I was a kid, but you don't see many now.

It's the Tawny Owl that makes that classic Owl call mate.

No one seems to know Strolls. They are thought to have halved in population in this Country since the 70s.
Theories include a rise in Sparrow Hawk numbers, neat and tidy gardens not offering up as much insect food and their biggest predator by far, the domestic cat!
